OT: Rams decline 5th yr Option for CB Emmanuel Forbes

Looking at OverTheCap.com, the 2023 players who had their options declined were:

  • Richardson [IND 4]
  • Wilson [NO 7]
  • Jones [PIT 14]
  • McDonald [JEST 15]
  • Forbes [LAR 16]
  • Campbell [DET 18]
  • Banks [NYG 24]
  • Smith [JEST 26]
  • Murphy [CIN 28]
  • Anudike-Uzomah [KC 31]
That's 10/31 [MIA lost their pick that year]. In 2022 it was 11/32.
It's really funny to think that Belichick's trade for a 4th rounder blew up both the Jets and the Steelers and caused both teams to fail and strikeout.

It still wasn't worth the risk of losing Gonzalez but in retrospect, that trade saved the Patriots (who might've taken Forbes) and killed the Jets and Steelers.

That was maybe the most successful accidental trade in Patriots history.

Oh boy that was a tough decision on a Very Slender no run support man.
Forbes was a run support CB in college. One of the best scouting takes on him was that he was laying out people and very aggressive against the run. It's one of the main reasons why people loved him.

I will say this, however, stay the hell away from WRs, CBs, and QBs who play in the B12.

It's fine if you want to draft other players from there. But that conference plays pattycake football in order to drive up the scores for eyeballs.

The weird thing is that the Patriots barely ever take anyone from the B12.

Marcus Jones from Houston was the only one on the roster...

...until we took Caleb Lomu (Utah) and Namdi Obiazor

Though Lomu came in and played Pac12 football until the switch.

1 PLAYER FROM THE B12 UNTIL THIS YEAR!!!

@Zuma was just telling me how "good" he was in 2025...
@Zuma
