OT: Panthers sign Cam

Guess we will see if cams arm really is shot or it was our lack of talent.

Kinda funny, Panthers cut cam ,pay big money to Bridgewater. Then trade multiple picks for Darnold. Only to resign cam Newton
I think it's been proven Cam's issues are his accuracy, decision making, footwork, throwing fundamentals and arm.

We saw it all last year and again in preseason.

In his youth he could get by without it and improvise. He can't do that consistently anymore.

Throwing incompletions > Throwing interceptions
Say what you want but that rollout int that Arnold threw. Cam might have done something with that

Yes major lack of talent around him last year. But also the low passing TDs was not a knock on him whatsoever. He didn't get a chance to pass in the red zone last year. The few games they tried he seemed ok actually. But he was just seen as a big RB in the red zone last year.

I think Cam is going to play well.

But the only real money left to push forward with are DMac & Hightower. I don't think it's in the team's best interest to extend either of those two.

Unfortunately its time to move on from them, its time to flip the youth switch there. Losing McCourty is going to hurt, remember the days where we were desperately searching for a FS, draft after draft of Sergio Browns, etc trying to find a competent FS to play back there

I hope we don't have a drought that long again.. McCourty often is playing elite level of FS play back there, but its not always noticed because he doesn't have lots of Ints, etc.. but thats also because he's rarely tested and plays very sound

There is an news article on site which gives Cam's reason for signing with the Panthers but I wish he would be honest and say because no one else offered me a job,

He signed with the Pats because....nobody else signed him, and he did the same with the Panthers. Its always funny when they act like they are choosing between 15 teams. lol Well my decision to go to the panthers was....well I like money

And... They were down to PJ Walker... Who said he would fall back on his xfl experience and have fun...

"I'm going to just revert back to when I played in the XFL, to be honest. I had a lot of fun, enjoyed the moment. I’m extremely excited, but when I go out there, I want to stay extremely excited, because the guys around me need that energy, need that juice, and I want to bring it on Sunday.“That’s the most important thing; I want to bring that juice. I want to show them that juice, but also know that I need to be calm and settled when it’s time to go out there and play.”

inspires confidence, doesnt it?

i mean hes bringing the juice lol

Cam did not get a fair shake in NE.

The 2020 NE offense had the 3 stooges WR corp of Myers, Harry and Byrd. Edelman only started 1 game. No TE

My daughter is a freshman at NC State. They absolutely hate Newton down there. When getting to know people they would say we hate the Patriots. She would say because they've won so much? No because they signed Cam Newton. When they cut Newton lots of them said we like the Patriots now, LOL. Who would have thought that's why a fan base which lost a SB to the Patriots would hate them.

The basic reasoning was two-fold from people. One they felt like he single handedly lost them the SB and not diving on the fumble was an unforgivable business decision. Second he threw shade on the region as being racist which they didn't take kindly to.

Just my daughter's take (we're white for frame of reference) but she said she hasn't seen racism against black people at all while down there. She did say however she's seen where they're highly racist against Mexican people. Petrified of them. I have to believe that's all the Trump rhetoric playing in the conservatives minds.

I don't want to get political on this and get the thread locked so just take this for what it's worth as one person's opinion which even I'm getting second hand from a 19 year old who has lived a fairly sheltered life.

Too funny. I guess it is OK to make political posts as long as the poster writes, "I don't want to get political". Then why did you click "Post Reply"? Hint: Because you wanted to get political. Almost fooled me.

McCourty is a borderline HOF caliber player. DMac and Hightower don't have much time here. Partly why I was for keeping Gilmore this year, just go for an outside chance of a run with these stalwarts before they all leave. But the Pats are doing a weird mix of rebuild plus huge overspending spree. It's valid to wonder if they should have given snaps to younger players or gotten trade value back, if this is just a developmental year for the rookie QB

He’s off the schedule, I hope he does great! He was awesome here, maybe not on the field all the time but his personality rubbed me the right way. You can tell his heart is still in the game and about team first.

McCourty is that rare Pats creature who has void years - three of them.. If he retires, all of them count against next year, for a 6+m cap hit. I hope he sticks around - restructure that deal to get rid of the void years and get some leadership and play for those $$$.

He's still very good, and part of the reason, I'm sure, that the kids like Jackson and Jones and Bryant have come along so well.

It seems kind of dumb to blame a 14 point loss on one guy's action in one play.

I've heard the opposite. That they love Cam down there and his work ethic and leadership. I think this forum even had a carolina person join last yr because they were a Cam fan. Sounds like your daughter hangs with a...certain crowd

One of the few plays I saw in the Cam SB was the big guy backing away from the loose ball fumble. I was wicked pissed. If you're not all in in the SB there's no point in playing. Hated to see Peyton Lucifer Manning win.

I wish newton all the success in the world at carolina.

And as long as he is never an employee of the patriots organization again, I am happy for him and us patriots fans!

Panthers classy af for the salary!!!!

I hope they win the nfc south now.
