OT: Official Trade Deadline Thread

I think the Jets would be smart to trade both Richardson and Marshall. Marshall would be an intriguing pick up for the Pats, although I highly doubt the Jets would trade him to the Pats.

Look for Cleveland to have a fire sale today, Haden, Thomas, etc.

TB needs a RB, as they lost another one yesterday.

Brandon Marshall has already stated he would never play for josh mcdaniels again after mcdaniels was his head coach in Denver.

I say cornerback

I would love to get Joe Haden

I wouldn't mind WR depth either. A name like Kendall Wright from Tennessee whose due to be a free agent at end of season

A CB would be nice and would make sense given our 2 starting corners are free agents. A tackle would be nice as well, i thought Solder had a down game yesterday and even though Fleming looked good when he played i wouldnt mind the depth.

haden and joe thomas. can you imagine????? rescue them from the dumpster fire in cleveland!!!

Without a doubt.

Would cost $9.7m in cap space. Pats have $9.1m

So whose getting traded or cut to free up an additional $4m that would be needed for this? Because that Pats can't and won't go the rest of the season with little to no cap space. They'll want at least $4m in space.

Based on what Josh says about his own behavior while HC in DEN I don't blame him.

People change. Times change.....

Brandon Marshall said he was close to signing with the Pats. Brandon Marshall was suffering from a mental illness at the time which he's now managing. Josh McDaniels learned from his stint in Denver.

Marshall is a nut but I think there would be a certain level of understanding between himself and McDaniels and he would adapt to the Patriot Way quickly enough. He would have his former teammate Bennett to lean on also.

That said, no chance NYJ trades him here.

Would like DT depth... but that's kinda hard to find. I can get behind a Joe Haden trade certainly.

Brandon Marshall wouldn't want to come play for BB and Brady, after playing for the clowns in NY, just because McDaniels would be his OC here?

I could see him as a guy like Bennett, who would appreciate a professional environment.

Did I just hear the Pats traded Jamie Collins?

So uh...most of this was written before the Collins news but I think it's all still applicable.

1. There's no better idea to keep in mind at the trade deadline than building a team as opposed to collecting talent. Joe Haden has lived up to his contract for about 20% of the 2.5 seasons since he signed it. You don't become a better team by trading for slightly better players on far bigger contracts.

2. As much as I'd want to get a few players from the Titans, there's probably not a better candidate in the NFL to be trading for a big name. They're one game out of the division lead, but have quite a few tough games in the second half of the season. If they want to make a run for the playoffs, then I think they might need that one more piece.

3. For the sake of throwing out some names, let's go with the clear bottom feeder in that division. Marcedes Lewis and Sen'Derrick Marks are two aging and declining Jaguar veterans at positions where the Patriots could use help (blocking tight end and pass-rushing defensive tackle).
