so when do you guys officially get off of your high horses ? it's been like 6 years since you "won" one and you haven't won anything since the sony's got put under wraps

And you haven't won one with a non-rapist quarterback in a few decades; wtf's your point?

I'll go on record as saying I think the Steelers still would have won the game even without the blown calls. But I will also say that in a game of that magnitude, it's hard to keep going when the wind keeps getting sucked out of your sails by BS like that.

You can never be sure. So many little things that we sometimes don't even notice much can have such a huge effect on any game. In this case, several huge plays were wiped out and had a major impact on the game IMO. I think the game would have been completely different.

In the Steelers defense though, they were on the business end of the worst overturn in playoff history a couple weeks before in Indianapolis.

I made a video of all the blown calls in that game and it clearly showed that if you added it all up the Seahawks won. Of course the NFL made YT take it down within days of me posting it. People focus on the big stuff like the TD called back for holding that even Madden said at the time, "I don't see holding". Or the "break the plane" Roethlesberger TD that I haven't seen called with similar placement since. But there was a lot of non calls as well

A horse collar called correctly by Al Michaels but, missed by refs

A delay of game in the 4th by at least 5 seconds.

On and on it was clearly a parting gift to "the bus".

It's definitely likely: they did win by 2 TDs, and ended the game running out the clock in Seattle's red zone. But the screwjob that the refs threw down on the Seahawks was pretty egregious, so who knows. It just sucks that there are even questions like this to ask.

The big call was in the 4th qtr, 14-10 Pittsburgh. A holding call was called on Seattle that would have been first and goal on the three. Instead, it became third and very long. Upon review, Madden's comment, " That's not holding."

An int followed, then the Randle El trick TD to Ward.

Seattle was a better team and was the much better team on the field.

Granted, but even if Seattle scores there, the game is far from over. As I said, I think the Steelers still would have won, but what sucks is that it's impossible to know with any real certainty. The Seahawks were right in it and had some momentum behind them.

Since the Pats weren't in it I went to the neighborhood SB party. BIG mistake. Dilletante football fans. Me, I'm watching the game and going ballistic over the bad, BAD calls against the SeaHags. The neighbor, Doctor Know-It-All, condescendingly observed time and again that the 'experts' on TV knew far more than I did and that my understanding of the rules in each case was therefore flawed. Never went to a SB party since.
PatsWickedPissah I'd suggest you deliver an empty bottle of champagne to doctor knowitall with a card attached thanking him for his advice and wish him well in his practice endeavors hoping his patients aren't on the wrong end of his apparent knowledge.

Says the guy supporting a team with a Rapist at QB.

Very true. We will never know how it would have ended.

Atleast, they didn't get hit with a "face guarding" penalty. That is still the most absolutely irritating call of all time. An incorrect existing penalty is better than a called non existant penalty.

Maybe crowd participation had something to do with it along with the blown call in Indy.

Actually, all the calls are blown in Indy.

I don't recall, was there an Official Review segment on NFLN where Mike Perreira defended every call made? or just ignored the blatant errors? I know mistakes are going to be made so to me the inexcusable thing is the way they spin it and pretend everything is perfect. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound.

I appreciate this ref making the admission but it should have been done long ago.

To be fair, Perreira's job is to defend the officials. They're his boys. I'm hard pressed to remember the last time Perreira actually didn't defend the officials. I want to say it was the face guarding call in the '06 AFCCG but I can't remember off the top of my head.

Either this guy is an ee cummings-esque literary genius... or he's just from Pittsburgh.

Meh, the officials did screw up a few calls in that game, but the Seahawks had plenty of opportunities in that game. Let's not reduce ourselves to the ranks of Steelers fans and play the cheat card. Officials blow calls every Sunday, it's part of the game.
