OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Shouldn't come as a shocker. Majority of QBs are worse on the road in playoff games. If you are on the road in the playoffs it usually always means you're the underdog.

As for my Bucs comment. It comes down to their health. They are very thin on D, and they had guys injured off and on all year, maybe they they will come back and healthy in time for the divisional round. If they do, I think they will be the best of those defenses I mentioned. But I could be wrong. In the end I honestly think it will be about which offenses can be the most consistent against a relatively bad field of defenses, and which defense which one of those offenses can manage to keep a good offense below the high 20s when it needs to.
Agree. Even in this passing league, it is almost impossible for a team to win a SB if the D doesn't carry the O for at least 1 game.

2007 and 2011 Pats O were tearing it up until the SB and the D couldn't win it for them.

More recently the 2018 Pats O were gangbusters the 1st and 2nd game but the D won it in the SB.

Even the mighty O of the defending champs Chiefs were a dud the first 3 quarters of last year SB but the D kept them in it until the O got going in the 4th Q.

So for the Bucs to be SB champs the D has to keep at least 1 team under 25. And no I'm not counting the WFT.

Reports are saying Alex Smith is doubtful to play. He had a set back with his calf.
After reading about that guys injuries, surgeries and lengthy recovery I am truly scared that he would get seriously hurt. Maybe its a good thing he sits.

Those games were against teams like the 2015 Broncos (one of the most dominant defenses of all time) with a slew of injuries at WR, 2013 Broncos in the same situation, and 2006 Chargers and Colts with the second worst weapons he’s ever had (after 2019).

It would be great to have the Pats there also, but yeah, the Tompa Bay Gronkaneers will make it fun.
Too many missing pieces for the Pat's to make a run the next season but maybe the season after.

Yeah and the most recent one road playoff game was probably one of the top 5 Brady playoff performance going toe to toe vs Mahomes

Looks shocking most quarterbacks have loosing road playoff records. Roethlisberger 5-3, Eli Manning 5-2. Flacco 7-5 Kind of outliers. But Rogers 5-6, P. Manning 2-5, R. Wilson 3-5, D. Brees 1-5, matt Ryan 1-3, Joe Montana 2-5, M. Hasselbeck 0-4, McNabb 2-4, Warner 1-2, Favre 3-7, Bradshaw2-3, Steve young 0-3, Aikman1-3, Marino 1-6, Griese 1-3, Stabler 1-4, Phil Sims 1-3, Bledsoe 0-2, Moon 1-4, Alex Smith 1-3, Desshun Watson 0-1, cam Newton 0-2, Andrew Luck 2-4, Andy Dalton 0-3, Tony Romo 2-4......I can go on but you get the idea.
Well it's a good year for the Bucs to be road warriors as road advantages won't count for as much this year without much fans if any.

We've never won a ring without a great defense that can stop the run and also have an elite secondary. Ty Law, Rodney etc or McCourty + Chung/Gilmore/Revis. We went 10 years without a ring that didn't have an elite man covering corner or elite safeties.

Saw a stat that Bucs are 2-5 against teams that average more than 2 sacks a game (basically an indicator of a top half of the league pass rush) . The wins were against the Broncos and the Giants and the Giants game came down to a failed 2 point attempt from going to overtime.

Washington was the 2nd best pass defense over the course of the season. They're just below the Rams and above the Saints, which were 3 games Brady struggled in. Stat wise those were the worst games of Brady's season in

Passer rating (all 3 games were his 3 lowest of the season)
INTs thrown (Those 3 games and the Chiefs games he threw at least 2 INTs)
Lowest Yards Per Attempt (Rams were his worst, 2nd Saints game was his 2nd worst and looking ahead GB was the 3rd worst)
Completion Percentage (Rams was his worst and the 2nd game against the Saints was his 2nd worst)

If that Washington defense is truly on the level that the Rams and Saints are and it wasn't just them looking better because of opponents then ya might be some struggles tonight especially if Evans is gimpy.

If Taylor Heineke is playing today at QB for Washington, this game could be over by halftime...

That's true. I wonder if team's road vs home records changed a lot this year across the NFL. I'll have to look that up

I'd rather the Bucs play a gimpy Smith. We at least know that he'd play average at best. The other QB is unknown and thus a wildcard.

But it's probably a wash as Roger's would be considered the 2nd best.

It's not just the QBs, the receivers have to be prepared to play in the elements as well...

This game will be over by halftime. You could always say a prayer, though.

Do you guys think Chicago had any Bulls “fans” that tried to rip Michael Jordan at every turn once he left for the Wizards? Or is that kind of small **** energy unique to the northeast US?
