OT: Odell Beckham

I've been thinking about this situation and we are all correct to be pounding on Beckham for his antics. I know people have mentioned that Josh Norman was a douche, but I can't agree. Unless he was talking about Beckham's family, trash talking is part of the game. Malcolm Butler talks trash all the time. We've seen it.

IMHO, this speaks volumes about Coughlin and his coaching staff. Someone should have pulled Beckham off the field, figuratively, if not literally. There is no way they should have let it escalate to the point it did. You can't tell me that one of the numerous offensive coaches didn't see it what was happening as things escalated. Even if we limit it to the Receivers Coach, The Offensive Coordinator and Coughlin, one of them should have seen it. The coaching staff didn't do anything. They let it go They didn't get him off the field so that he couldn't be a danger to himself, never mind the team.

IMHO, this is one of the cases where the team should be fined as well as whatever punishment Beckham gets..

Coughlin admitted after the game that he kept Beckham on the field to win. He didn't try to shy away from that fact.

As an aside, once the Pats game was in reach, I turned my attention to this game. IMO, this was probably the most entertaining game of the year outside of Pats/Giants.

The nfl will use this bat thing to justify not suspending Odell *****. Can't be suspending the player they spent the last year promoting heavily.. Not that they need it or anything, remember they didn't suspend Adam Jones for smashing Amari Cooper's unprotected head against a helmet.

I didn't say to bench Beckham.. I said, as one of the coaches, it's your responsibility to get your player off the field to prevent him from doing something stupid. You pull him to the sidelines and you talk some sense into him. One or two plays to get him calmed down and thinking straight wouldn't have cost them the game.

If ODB is gay, and the Panthers threatened him with baseball bats and used homophobic slurs, that's messed up.

A lot of 'ifs' there though, as a Patriots fan I have learned to question all evidence and investigations before making a conclusion.

Just to point out the obvious (and not to go down the political lane!):

"We're going to kick your ass, ***"

is the kind of trash talk one can find at pretty much any random adult sports venue, be it an NFL arena or a local playground basketball court.

Yeah, bringing bats on the field before a game is weird. What is this the freaking color guard? Maybe give them a baton with some nice sparkly streamers.

I gave you an answer. You didn't like it.. That's on you and no one else..

except you didn't. you stated something as fact, you linked to a random dudes twitter, and then when asked for more information you said "go ask a panthers fan" You Ben Volined this whole situation.

Luckily, we have another poster whose willing to go the extra mile beyond grand standing, and actually posted helpful information which answered all of my questions.

This is all unbelievably stupid.

Ah, I got you. I misunderstood what you were saying, then. I fully agree. His emotions running high likely cost him the game since he torched Norman early in the game and had a TD go right through his hands.

Just fess up and admit you were a bonehead and move on, it looks better from every conceivable angle. I just don't get it. Reminds me of Suh, "Oh I was just trying to get up"(but somehow kept slamming a guys head into the ground).

That pregame bat excuse from the gints is pathetically desperate and low.

It was a great battle between two good players. It was fun to watch.

They should have let them duke it out at center field.

A great battle doesn't involve trying to take someone out with a blind side hit to the head after a play is over.

Beckham should have been ejected. Beckham got put in his place, and he acted like a child because of it.

I agree. The league should get back to preparing thier frame j.... I mean case involving the atmospheric changes in air pressure.

I agree, but if it's 'known' that he's gay / bi and they are saying that stuff, then it's a lot different. It's like the Rondo / Bill Kennedy issue last week. I'm sure it was an open secret that Kennedy was gay, and for Rondo to use that language puts it on a different level.

No, it's not. That's the spin people are trying to put on the Rondo, but that's just the spin and not the reality.

The best thing OBJ could have done was fall on the proverbial apology sword. Everyone has psycho moments....It happens.

His coaches and his advisers didn't do him any favors yesterday and today.

At 23 hes still very young. He needs some tough love here.
