If game integrity is so damn important, what bass-ackwards message is the league sending when the team most affected by the supposed suspendible infraction has to keep playing against the uber-talented offender?

Wow, that's crazy that nobody put a stop to that. Doesn't excuse Beckham's actions and he should still be suspended for headhunting, but the league should also suspend everyone who brought a bat onto the field too, that's stupid and there's no need/use for it. Can you imagine Belichick letting guys get away with that?

OH BOY. Really? Please show me in the rules where it's illegal for teams to bring things onto the field PRE-GAME?

Next you'll say that the Patriots Minutemen shouldn't be allowed on the field. Or the Mascot. or the Cheerleader Pom Poms. SMH..

Believe it or not, I'm not going to allow every thread to turn into a pissing match with you.

But yes, if the NFL has video of anyone on the Panthers bringing a bat onto the field and waving it threateningly at Beckham while talking trash, then clearly they should be suspended too. I'm kinda surprised that this even requires stating, but there's no place on the field for threatening to assault someone with a baseball bat.

Look, there is no defending either of their actions.

At the end of the day, we do NOT know what was said between them. For all we know, Norman could have said something that you simply cannot say to another man. Or he could have said the usual and OBJ is being a baby.

I find it very, very hard to believe that ODB was THAT pissed off for that long, over something "normal".

No matter what the DB said, there is no excuse for ODB's REPEATED in game conduct.
He should have simply told the DB that, "After the game, I'm gonna pop a cap in you ass" and left it at that... until afterwards.

Yeah, I think there's merit to both arguments. Basically, there's no good guy here. They're all assholes being assholes and crossing the line. Trying to decapitate a guy after the play because he said mean stuff is inexcusable. Using a bat a prop to threaten assault on someone pregame is also inexcusable, and the fact that the guy routinely carries a bat onto the field doesn't excuse it. Condemning one doesn't equate to condoning the other, because neither of them is worth condoning here.

So the threatening with a bat started when playing against Reggie Bush, or reggie bush started the whole carry a bat onto the field thing?

Sorry DaBruinz, but JakeSports isn't someone i've ever heard of before, and there is a distinct lack of details here to just be taking it as gospel.

The video only shows the one player waving it around. It was Beckham who claimed it was "threatening".

Like I said. Ask some Panther fans. If you don't, then that's your own issue.

From the Panthers message board:

The same black bats I've seen them swinging prior to many of the games. I don't know if it's a symbolic thing or stretching to be honest. But it's certainly not the first time.

...

Bene had the bat the other week.

JJ @ the Observer claimed on twitter it is a symbolic thing the DBs have done this year to get homerun plays.

...

like most things in sports....the bat motivational tool is not a unique thing Carolina thought up.

Saints and Cardinals have used it recently too per Saints beat writer.

....
And at the front of this video, an example:

Thanks Rochrist..

Bat = Much ado about nothing..

Gotcha.

I'll keep that in mind the next time you're bring something up to go ask someone else about it.

Thanks.

Shockingly, the Giants are trying to excuse Beckham's behavior:

Giants reviewed pregame incidents b/n Panthers players and Beckham. Are convinced he was threatened physically and called homophobic slurs

Giants not alleging any particular player saying/doing this but have looked into various pregame interactions and firmly believe it occured

I can only imagine how many years BB would get suspended if this was about the Patriots rather than the Panthers...

Good Lord...

Panthers have carried bats out onto field for pregame in nearly every game this season. Sunday a continuation of Carolina ritual.

Try harder, Giants.

What I take from the Giant's response, and the way Beckham reacted to homosexual slurs, is that Beckham is in fact gay. And that's fine!

Gotcha.

I gave you an answer. You didn't like it.. That's on you and no one else..

Panthers officials are saying that no threats or slurs were made to Beckham pre-game..

Jason La Canfora ? @JasonLaCanfora
Panthers officials deny strongly any threats or slurs were made and are adamant they have long used a bat as a motivating prop...

If ODB is gay, and the Panthers threatened him with baseball bats and used homophobic slurs, that's messed up.

A lot of 'ifs' there though, as a Patriots fan I have learned to question all evidence and investigations before making a conclusion.

That touchdown only tied the game!

Good call. I was trying to multi-task. It's been edited appropriately.
