Depends what you want from a back up.
Most of the time they don’t play, so it’s whatever. If you need him to come in for mop up duty and not lose a game for you, he’s probably fine. If your guy gets hurt and you still wanna be a contender, Mac isn’t your guy, but most aren’t, that’s why backups are backups

Kyle Shanahan can't improve that Mac sucks throwing outside the numbers. Very easy QB to Defend.

I would rather pay Purdy 55m a year than have Mac Jones as my quarterback that’s how big a nothing burger this is.

Mac Jones sucks, he can’t be fixed because he doesn’t have NFL stater ability we all saw it.

Honestly if Purdy had come here Instead of SF he would have been a dumpster fire in this offense with Fat Matt and Judge no OL and No weapons! Purdy went into a dream situation…..but last year with all the injuries and a shaky OL…..Purdy came back to earth. He is a decent QB but almost any good QB would have had success on that SF team at that time ….including Mac I think…..wish him the best of luck going forward

We all saw that there are still possibilities for guys to turn it around. He can be a decent NFL QB, I think, in the right situation. If he gets someone who knows what they're doing, and finds a good, stable system to develop in. He has never had the same coordinator more than once in his NFL career. He's played on two of the worst teams of the past few years. I wouldn't guarantee anything, but I will say that there's a chance he can recover a little of the spark he had to start his career.
