OT: JPP serious hand injury due to fireworks??

Is he switching to receiver?

How would a hand injury end the career of a D lineman?

Half of a linemens job is hand technique. It could very well have threatened a career, thankfully for him it doesn't sound nearly as bad as initially reported.

Defensive lineman use their hands more than a receiver does.. they have to get their hands on the inside of the 300+ lb offensive lineman to control their upper body

You can still do that with a nub

Sucks for him, he's not gonna get that Franchise tag money

Looks like the event was caught on video, looks pretty career threatening for JPP:

Apparently they withdrew the contract they offered him. The contract I assume he wasn't ok with. Could this be JPP's last year with the Giants?

Rumor is Ted Wells began an investigation. Upon finding the song "Firework" by Katy Perry on Tom Coughlin's cell phone, Wells says it is "more probable than not" that the Giants sabotaged their own player's 4th of July celebration. Troy Vincent bans Coughlin 1 year and takes the team's next two first-round picks.

J/k it's a NY team, he actually just fines them $75k.

Come on. You know it will be traced back tot he Patriots and we will have to give the Giants Chandler Jones for free and give up our next #1.

The Patriots connection is clearly the halftime show of Super Bowl 49. Katy Perry sang that song during halftime of a game the Patriots won. That set the wheels in motion.

No, since it's a New York team, Goodell will award them the Patriot's 1st & 4th picks as compensation for losing a player.

If he is still in the hospital..they have to be doing skin graphs..and from what i hear....talk about pain...

According to Ross Tucker, former o-lineman, 90% of line play at the pro-level is hand play. You know, getting leverage and/or preventing the other guy from getting leverage.

That and no score on strip sacks if no one is around.

I've been trying to re-work Naughty By Nature's OPP using Pierre-Paul's initials, but I haven't been able to get beyond "What's wrong with JPP? / Where's my pink-ee?"

I was listening to Miller and Kirwan today discussing a Jason Cole report that didn't paint a positive picture for the JPP. They mentioned skin grafts on his hand, which someone brought up earlier, that he can't do any lifting while he's recovering, and that he'd probably start the season on the Non-Football Injury list. I think that means he misses the first 6 games at a minimum, which puts the Giants defense in a hole.

Kirwan wouldn't get into specifics, but he said he had heard some stories about the circumstances of the injury that don't reflect positively on Pierre-Paul. Unless the situation was that someone tossed an M-80 toward a group of children and JPP grabbed it to save them, it's only a question of how dumb and irresponsible he was behaving.

In terms of players hands in general, I think it was Tim Green, a former Falcons d-lineman, who mentioned how players appreciate it if fans don't squeeze hard when they shake hands because their hands are so beat up. JPP doesn't just need his hand to heal, he needs it to be able to withstand the rigors of a football game. That means possibly getting his hand slapped by an o-lineman, using it to break his fall or sticking it in front of pass, among other things.

jeez...scares me to death. I do important "things" with my left hand...every night...for a few minutes...
