They've gone back to doing it by conference, so that would honestly be an impressive feat.

I don’t think they can give Toradol shots anymore but I bet they were giving him pain meds pregame to be able to play.
There was a physician task force in 2012 which made recommendations after the player lawsuit that included abuse of toradol. A Player needs to be on the injury report to be eligible for toradol. Oral versions were strongly advised, with injections just for acute game day injuries.

Thats offensive to Kerri actually....

I once had a neck strain that was almost bad enough to send me to the ER. I got a Toradol shot at an urgent care clinic, and I felt worlds better within about 5 minutes.

Good enough for me... Tell @Ghost of Autumn he made the original MLR post... we can get this sorted ... i mean if we are going to insult JAs manhood by comparing him to a 5 foot nothing girl, we should reference the right one

Yup. My bad.

I partially blame Google. I thought it was Mary Lou, and before I made the post, I made the following Google search.

Saw an Olympic girl with a broken ankle and was like "yup! I got that right".

Fack

Also, the intention of my post was that Greencow would compare JA's 'heroics' to [Kerri Strug], but here's what ended up happening.

I remember back in the day whenever Peyton would have an embarrassing game on the national stage there always seemed to be an injury reported afterwards.

I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

Sorry, so let me get this straight. If Maye's shoulder is killing him it could, on Super Bowl gameday, be treated with a toradol shot now that he is on the injury report, but if he wasn't on the injury report he'd have to take it orally?

I have been thinking this whole time as long as he gets a shot on gameday I feel very confident in him. I didn't know that him being on the injury report was a pre requisite now

1) Oral toradol is supposed to work just as fast and well as shots (IM or IV). The NFLPA sent a memo in 2021 advising toradol to only be used in pill form if possible. They are definitely trying to move away from the T-train of players lining up for IM toradol shots of the pre 2015s.

2) My understanding is 'officially' a player needs to be on injury report with a diagnosed condition to give team doctors the option of prescribing toradol in any form (including oral). It's not suppose to be used prophylactically anymore, but for known injuries.

3) This is a team to team thing. There is no NFL league wide guidance. Toradol usage in the NFL (and probably other medications etc) has been a complete wild west of abuse and overuse causing longterm damage. There is a laundry list of previous nfl players who talk about toradol abuse, and at least two lawsuits So take 1) and 2) with a pinch of salt.

But to answer your question, yes if Maye's shoulder was bad, and he wanted pain relief, being on the injury report opens up treatment option of toradol to the team doctor, probably even on game day.

I've put some of the links in, if people were interested.

NFLPA memo 2021 about toradol

Jason Kelce and his 'pink pill' that he had been taking for 13 years. The article talked about him needing to retire if they banned it.

There was.a B/R mag survey with 50 players in 2018 which is pretty good (that I cant find the original link for).

Lawsuit by NFL players

Good overall article.

Very interesting. I was in the barber chair when I posted that message so I didn't have time to look through the link but now I have something to read when I should be working!
