Re: OT: Joey Porter released

No.

(You took my idea.)

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

If he didnt hate the pats and act like a diva, he would help our team immensely.

Sadly, no.

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

No thanks

Rex has just picked up the phone...guaranteed

The Bills are going to a 3-4 so Porter could be a good fit there as well

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

Isn't there an all-purpose toilet, errr....thread where all these are supposed to go as they pop out?

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

17.5 sacks two years ago, and 9 last year in severely limited play time. Might be a liability against the run, but he'd be an excellent 3rd down pass rusher for any team.

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

His main asset to this team would be a Bryan Cox type attitude in the locker room - Otherwise his skills are slowly diminishing.,We don't need him.

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

no,no. HELL NO!!! Let him be a cancer for some other team.

The idea is to build up a good defense

Not a crap one

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

no effin way

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

He really isn't that horrible. 26.5 sacks the last two seasons.

Though I do hate the guy.

Porter would be an excellent replacement for Mr. Burgess, as far as on-the-field skills go, and I'd be fine with him as a 3rd down player. I'd consider him an upgrade over every pass rusher the Patriots had last season.

Unfortunately, Porter still wants to start.

noooooooooooooo

Re: OT: Joey Porter released

Well, he would be.

That said, he was without a doubt the most malicious of all SpyGate player critics and was known as a malcontent in Miami.

We should be losing our resident malcontent when Adalius is axed; however, we'll be getting a replacement for him when Vince is tagged so, I guess we don't need the mouthy Mr. Porter.

I don't want Porter, his attitude is absolute garbage.

I'm just saying, on the field he'd be a fine 3rd down pass rusher.

However, the reason he wanted out of Miami was because he wasn't starting so that wouldn't work out anyways.

He wasn't playing full time in Miami, then there's the whole issue of his behaviour and his mouth. There has to be someone out there better than Joey Porter, the last two teams hes played for have released him. If hes so good why?

Steelers

1) Because they had someone younger and better in Harrison.
2) Steelers hate overpaying their veterans. (eg: Alan Faneca)
3) The Steelers system can make stars out of LBs, then they go on for their big payday elsewhere.

Even with that, he went on to lead the conference in sacks (17.5) the following season.

And hell, even led the Dolphins in sacks this season.

I think the return on investment is to low. The trouble Porter brings isn't worth what the pats will get on the field. Go check out what the fans in miami think..... unanimusly its.... good riddence.
