And you're still missing my point, but it's cool. It is what it is. I'll say one last time. I do not believe that the statement he made would prevent Bill from signing him today if the price and talent were right. Bill only wants to win and if he didn't sign Revis, assuming he can still play at a high enough level, then he would be a bigger hypocrite than Goodell himself because all he ever talks about is doing what's best for the team and improving the team. Legacy is huge to him, and it is for Tom as well to want to keep playing after already cementing himself as the greatest. You've (not you) got to be kidding me if a person thinks some monsense he said on the spot, peobably just for laughs, would give perhaps the greatest winners in the sport any apprehension about this player if he proved he could still perform. If what Revis said was so bad to them, I don't think the reception would have been so warm in 2015. For crying out loud, Patricia was gushing and laughing and being playful the whole time. TB12 had the biggest smile on his face when he spoke with him. DMac was slapping his pads and they talked for a good while before and after the game. There's a difference between cordial because he helped you win and all of that.

So, I'm afraid we'll sadly just have to disagree on this one, my friend. I think all of that nonsense is for fans and media, not the guys who suit up and sacrifice everything to win...well, at least in our organization anyway.

I guess we do agree to disagree. The last thing I'll say on this is everyone can be cordial and nice in front of the camera where everyone is watching. Anyone can talk to a guy they may despise or hate. Brady and BB were cordial to Goodell during the MVP conference and when they were on stage getting the Lombardi. Pats fans may have wanted them to give him the ol' Mike Tyson sucker punch, but that's not how those guys roll. That's not how this team rolls. At least in public.

And unfortunately, what Revis said was NOT said for laughs or as a joke. When you so much as imply that someone is a cheater, it isn't a game, especially with Revis knowing how raw that wound still is for this team. Once you jump on that bandwagon, the wheels are turning. You can't stop it from going down that hill; you've already pushed it down.

Revis would not add one iota of improvement to this team in 2017 or beyond that. It doesn't help matters when he says things like that either.

He'll still insist on being in the middle of it all. The only difference will be the time delay for the use of the teletype to communicate his wishes to/from London to NYC.
Teletype? Yeah, come to think of it, I guess smoke signals don't work between London and New Jersey.

This right here is exactly what I mean when I say you just don't get at all what I'm saying. They weren't just cordial with Revis. They were genuinely happy to interact with him. Go back and take a look if you have the game saved. Being cordial? Cordial is not hugging, laughing and spending time talking with someone. You want me to believe all of that was for the cameras? Especially BB? C'mon. Brady didn't give a single post game on field interview the whole season. Lol And you comparing that to how things played out with Goodell...? I'm shocked, Atomic. I got nothin but luv for you, big homie, but I can't even begin to understand how you view the two occurrences in the same light. That was the epitome of what cordial means. Nobody hugged Goodell or spent time talking to him. Hell, he had to pull Brady closer to him when he went to congratulate him before the trophy presentation. Neither Brady or BB was even listening when he was talking before handing Kraft the trophy. Lol He promptly got the he'll outta dodge right after. And there were far more cameras at that game than some regular season meeting with the bottom feeders known as the Jets. If cameras were a concern, wouldn't they have been doing all the same things, especially considering they had just won it all?

But I do understand a bit better how you are missing my point now. You just don't see how they could separate the two things and I do believe they could separate Revis the player from Revis' comments.

And for real lastly (for real), the fact that you don't believe Revis could help the team in 2017 is just your opinion. I, in fact, never said he could or couldn't. What I submitted was if Bill felt he could and everything lined up financially, I think Bill, based on what I've seen for 17 seasons, would do it. But alas, it is what it is. It'll likely be moot because there haven't been any real talks about it. Just media hypotheticals that sparked the debate is all I've seen so far.

I don't think you have to hold a grudge against someone to not remember what they said, whether it was a dig or something else. And yeah, of course they're going to hug him because, as you said, they won a championship with his help.

But all of that still doesn't mean they don't remember or see what was said. They are quite aware in fact. Clearly we all know how they feel about Goodell. Even at the end of the SB, you heard Amendola and Edelman yelling about the comments Keyshawn Johnson made about them not making other team's 53-man roster after the game. So it isn't just fans and media who remember these things. Players and coaching staff do as well. They may not make as big a deal of it as fans and media do, but it isn't like they ignore it either.

The Rats will do their best to finally build a real team and not an old veteran loaded house of cards. Problem is their idiotic owner is not able to avoid a the shiny TL Hilton type instead of trading down. These moves typically catapult teams like the Rats and the Billdos to the September SB Championship. Its almost not fair.

On Jets rebuilding, they could always ask Charley Casserly again for his 'Expertise'
We Pats Fans can only hope.

I'll admit, I actually thought Todd Bowles was a good choice and was going to be a good coach. But it sure doesn't look that way now and I think his players are voting with their suitcases.

It goes further than him. It's whole Jets Org. mind set. Woody loves spotlight, signing players to fill his PSL seats (see Favre others) But to get back to Bowles, he condoned player's attitudes and Players missing Meetings and basically his carefree, let inmates run asylum. It's what I kept reading and hearing here in NY. Just look at Namath, only thing they can cling to since '60s and he always knocks them.

There has been reports that Marshall want to be in New England, i hope not..can't stand the guy.

Poor fireman Ed. What must he be thinking.

On the other hand, if any of us were given a situation like the Jets, with the locker room full of overpaid vets with poor attitudes, we'd be getting rid of them, too.

If it weren't the Jets, this would look like a team taking the first steps to a true rebuild.

No worries, however.

Fault goes squarely on H.C. Bowles for allowing, tolerating their carefree behavior and instead of acting like their leader rather than Ringling Bros bringing Circus to town.

Marshall has signed for two years with NYG.

Rumors are he signed with the Giants.. Easiest transition ever for a FA. same stadium, don't have to move, just different clubhouse......

Yup, keeps his gig on Inside NFL and now gets to drop key passes in blue rather than green.

I don't like seeing organizations be perpetual jokes, It's just not good for the NFL as a whole when a storied franchise like the Browns (and to a much lesser extent the Jets) are a joke. I like GOOD FOOTBALL and the Jets haven't been a good football team for a very very long time (this is why I welcomed them firing Wrecks Ryan - he's fun to laugh at, but he's not good for the NFL.) They haven't been to a Super Bowl since before Man walked on the Moon, and I have a feeling they won't be back until after Man walks on Mars!
Bah. Not every team can be good or have a savvy organization, and the ones that ARE jokes generally deserve their lot. The NFL SHOULD be a meritocracy -- THAT is what makes good football. I would be happy to see the Jets continue to stumble in perpetuity because they reap what they sow and it's great comic relief. I sure as hell don't want to see them start doing well for the "good of football."
