The world is ending.I'm not correcting your grammar. I'm calling you out on a joke you made, that you tried to say you didn't make intentionally, when it's totally obvious you did.
(And I'm bored, so I'm making a bigger deal out of it than I actually think it is).
If Lamar had played behind that 2022 Eagles OL and with the two elite WRs (and a top 5 TE) to throw to, he likely would have had an even better statistical year than Hurts did. Jackson should sue Ravens for negligence, when it comes to the wide receivers he has been forced to throw to. Lamar turns 27 in Jan and Hurts turns 25 in August. That is not a significant age difference. If he was as good, as young and as not always injured as Hurts then he might have a solid argument for it too.
It's just further proof what TALENT can do a for QB.. I'm sure our gracious owner couldn't sleep learning of this contract...Crazy
The dude had one good year, behind an elite O-line with elite receiver's. Making him the highest paid player of all time will bite them on their ass in a year or two
Fact is... they will have to pay someone be it Mac or another guy... can't hide anymore..Macs contract will be bigger.

Pay Mac now.Fact is... they will have to pay someone be it Mac or another guy... can't hide anymore..
BB will likely want to pay IR Jimmy glass..Pay Mac now.
We dont want to lose him.
I think that's debatable. I could see BB decide Mac or Bailey or whomever just isn't worth that kind of money and decide to roll with a replacement-level QB and use the rest of the money to improve the rest of the team.Fact is... they will have to pay someone be it Mac or another guy... can't hide anymore..

I think that's a definite risk. As mentioned perhaps too many times already, the comp I saw for Mac when he was drafted was Derek Carr. Another one was Chad Pennington. Good but not great guys. But those are just projections done by analysts. The thing to do is what we did, take him at #15 and see where things go. But part of that plan is to also be prepared to let him go if he does not perform at a high enough level. I agree with what you say, it's all still to play for. I could see Mac upping his game and becoming a clear QB1, and I could see him not upping his game and ending up as a backup. This year is really pivotal, IMO.I think that's the smarter move IF you don't think Mac is the guy. You don't want an Andy Dalton situation where he's just good enough that you keep paying him, because you're afraid of becoming terrible, but he's never good enough to actually win a Super Bowl with him. Then you're just living in mediocrity and never taking a shot at a better option because you're already locked up a ton of money in the QB. It's better to take the hit, and risk being bad with a new young (or lower cost at least) and keep taking flyers on guys that could be the next top-5 elite guy, IMO.
Some here have already decided this is who Mac is of course, so they'll want to do this sooner rather than later. But I think this is going to be the key year to find out for sure. Mac could play so well that they decide to lock him up long term with an extension, could play well enough to pick up his 5th year option while still taking a guy in the 2nd round next year (the way the Eagles did with Hurts), or he could show that the system wasn't the whole problem and they start the process on the next guy in 2024. It's all up in the air right now.

Yes, I was referring to going forward.. QB salaries... well good QB salaries are going to continue to climb.. BB is here for the short-term I'm thinking 3 years.. he's managed the team pretty well the last 20 plus.. Brady spoiled the team over the years Taking far lest for the betterment of the overall team. Those days are long gone. If Mac rebounds and ascends the way he was prior to 20222..then he'll command that pay day..I think that's debatable. I could see BB decide Mac or Bailey or whomever just isn't worth that kind of money and decide to roll with a replacement-level QB and use the rest of the money to improve the rest of the team.
Jackson is clearly as good if not better. Balty has spent the least on the WR position - never going above 8m and has bungled that position as bad as anyone with a QB like Jackson on a rookie deal. And he's only 2 years older. Last year wasn't a good look but a lot of people understand his position with so much money on the line.If he was as good, as young and as not always injured as Hurts then he might have a solid argument for it too.
Bob Obrien is an offensive genius.Mac won't be resigned past his rookie contract unless he has a good season this year...
I agree. At some point in time we'll have a clear QB1 and we'll have to pay big bucks to keep him. The real question is if Mac will be a clear QB1 worth paying once the key decisions have to be made. We'll have to decide to tag him or not next off-season or give him an extension, or trade him, or let him walk after four years, so this season is pivotal.Yes, I was referring to going forward..
