OT: Ian, any chance we can adjust how the rating buttons (likes, funny, etc.) appear?

Tony2046 commented on this on another thread...

Can you increase the spacing of the ratings? When using my phone I often hit the wrong rating. Either that or I could stick my finger in an electric pencil sharpener.

Increasing the spacing would definitely help reduce fat-fingering. However, if we reordered them... from high to low perhaps... it would also decrease errant ratings. I'm thinking winner-funny-like-agree-useful-disagree-dislike. Of course if this can't be done... then as Tony hints at, perhaps I may opt for some elective surgery...

I'm sure Ian has more important things to worry about as the season opens (including boxing out the usual influx of Trolls from the early opponents), but, yeah, when I'm on my mobile I've had to "Undo" a lot of "Disagrees" when I'm trying to say "Funny" or "Agree" and a lot of "Dislikes" when I'm trying to "Like" or "Agree." Fat Fingers. Maybe I should go on a diet.

A quick fix is to zoom in and then press the icons.

An additional icon or two would be useful.

I like the coffee drinking guy, like at Patriots Planet.

We could also use one to signify that we appreciate a post, but the content doesn't warrant a like.

I went back and removed a like from Deus the other day. I think it was him reporting Bridgewater's injury. Hard to like reporting bad news like that, even though it was a perfectly reasonable post.

useful works in that example....

The "agree" icon seems appropriate for that situation.

Smart phones are a bane to modern society. I don't own one, hopefully never will.

I was in the same camp until my daughter said, "Dad, you know you don't have to be smart to have a smartphone, right?"
I have to have a landline for my business and am seldom in need of Internet access while on the go; plus, the cost of a smart phone would triple what I pay for a regular cell phone. Aside from that, I hate the way people always have their noses in those things vs. interacting with others and the world around them.

I'll never forget this photo I saw of Gronk making a spectacular leap into the end zone. Everyone in the crowd behind him was going nuts except for one oblivious woman looking down at her phone.

A smart phone is an excellent tool for business/personal communication and entertainment. Its MISUSE as a REPLACEMENT for direct human interaction, often in the presence of other humans, and as a 'selfie machine', is annoying as hell.

FWIW I say this as a person who still listens to AM radio and considers himself an analog man in a digital world. LOL

I'd like to see the emoji list expanded. If it's the stock Apple/Android emojis, they should be here.

Minion emojis would be a plus too.

We are all morons for allowing technology to replace human contact. Pubs are dying out. Porn has replaced pu**y. And we worry about 'likes' from anonymous posters.

Now I have to go see if my strawberry jello is ready to eat

Sounds like a personal problem

But the "ordering" is in itself a personal preference. For me, "useful" is the highest compliment, as it communicates that the post makes me think or provides a perspective that broadens my own.

I also use it sarcastically.

I'll look into modifying that script and make it Facebook-esque where it zooms before you select it as I've had the same issue, which has caused me to have to zoom before hitting it also - but generally because I have to reverse a rating. But new ratings along with new emoticons are in the plans and the new board layout is going to allow you to enable, disable, hide/show different sections also. The goal is to have it up by Tuesday, and I think I should have it done by then depending on how the weekend goes.
