OT: HGH-Boy Starting Divisional Game. Going for 10th One n Done. Chances of AFCCG In MA Improve

Peyton has always been bad in the playoffs. He has 9-17 td-int ratio and Osweiler has a 10-6. I'd rather ride out the kid and see what he can do. It's very unlikely Peyton could hold up for 3 straight games. Defense and CJ Anderson and Ronnie Hillman would have to play out of their minds. It's a no brainer for me to go with Osweiler. Plus Osweiler is a much better fit for Kubiak's system. That same logic of that experience would have been similar to benching Brady for Bledsoe in my opinion.
Then Kubiak made a HUGE mistake benching Osweiler vs. San Diego, which was tantamount to saying, "You can't get it done when the chips are down and you merely were a placeholder for Manning anyway." You honestly think they can go back to Osweiler after Forehead's ballyhooed "savior-like" return Sunday?

Yep he did, he probably doesn't even have the authority to go back to Osweiler at this point. I bet Osweiler still wins that game without Peyton giving them a spark. I mean I could only imagine if BB had started Bledsoe in Super Bowl 36.

They do realize that it probably would've been a smarter idea to wait a week or so until naming the starter? Now you give the next opponent even more time to gameplan for forehead.

Keep in mind San Diego came in planning for Brock, they didn't have their gameplan set up for Peyton.

maybe they are going to dupe teams into thinking manning will start and then pull a last minute switch and name osweiller starter the night before.

Doubtful. They'll start him. It's more likely that they'll pull him by halftime if he ****s the bed.

Fear not... rather, watch this for a while... I can't take my eyes off it... the beauty... the poetry... it's like balm for the soul.

One of the most telling things is how Manning puts his entire body into each of those throws, and all of them are wobbly passes that would barely make it 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. Manning, like Brady, was never the kind of quarterback like Brees or Rodgers who could flick their wrist and send the ball careening thirty yards downfield, but even still these look like the kind of throws a middling high school quarterback makes.

There would be a different coach for NE in 2003.

They won a lot of games despite him playing terrible before he was replaced by osweiler. Everyone here is assuming they wont win one game at him when they know they will host a AFCCG ? Yes he has choked in the playoffs but he has won in denver going to the SB also.If they face pittsburg for e.g, its the most inconsistent team playing a 2nd game on the road with average defense at mile high, why everyone assumes denver cant win? Manning spooks a lot of coaches to doing dumb things and dont think tomlin is going in winning there.I hope Iam wrong.
I wouldve rather preferred osweiler who hasnt started a playoff game to play . But manning is a Lucky SOB. He plays like **** /gets benched with an injury excuse and gets a HFA somehow and has a chance to go to the AFCCG at home.

Manning's "spark" severely underplays how well the Denver running game clicked against a San Diego team that had packed everything up. Manning didn't have to do anything but hand the ball off. Osweiler's turnovers weren't even hurting them, because San Diego would get the ball and go three-and-out. Rivers had no one to throw to but Woodhead, the corpse of Antonio Gates, and some practice squad receivers. They were handing the ball off to washout Donald Brown. The San Diego offensive line may be worse than New England's.

And even with nothing to play for, a severely undermanned Chargers team managed to take the Broncos, starring Peyton Manning, to the wire. If Denver thinks they can get away with that against the Pittsburgh Antonio Browns, they've got another thing coming.

Pitts will lose to the bengals. They are as unpredictable and average coached. They lost to ryan mallet !

Doubt it, buuuuut, I think AJ McCaron could give them a shot they wouldn't normally have with the choker Dalton. McCaron has won two BCS titles as a starter I believe.

do you guys really think we are better off (from a pats perspective) with manning as the starter?

I'm definitely not convinced we're worse off. Osweiler was a better QB than Manning this year. Only way this move helps the Broncos is if the time off has made Manning much better than he was when he played earlier this season.

And nothing we saw in week 17 suggests to me that Manning's either back or done. With Manning on the field, they soundly beat a 4-12 team with a notably bad defense that had quit on its season. The only reason they weren't already doing that is because they turned the ball over 5 times, only one of which was Osweiler's fault.

Patriots lost to Ryan Tannehill, albeit with less to play for.

Though I'm guilty of it in the Chargers-Broncos analysis, judging a team based on how they play in second divisional games is often fraught. I actually would expect the Bengals to beat the Steelers, though.

2015 record.

Manning 7-2
Osweiler 5-2

Osweiler has been the better QB this year.

Yes he has choked in the playoffs but he has won in denver going to the SB also.

PM has lost the 1st playoff game 9 times. He has had a dreadful regular season. He is not the QB he was last year or 2013 when he did win playoff games.

Denver can win but the chances are better w/ Osweiler b/c he is the better QB with the stronger arm.

I agree.

Ehh.... People here are ridiculously downplaying Manning's influence in that game. Manning came in with about 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, and the Broncos down 13-7. The drives prior to his entering the game went:

TD
Fumble
Pick
Fumble
Punt
Pick
Punt
Half
Fumble
Halftime

Manning then came in and the drives went:

TD
FG
FG
Punt
TD
Game

It is what it is. Manning was clearly what sparked that Broncos team.

Osweiller can at least complete deep passes...even against san diego mannings passes either looked like wobbly ducks or were overthrown deep.

This gives teams to gameplan to flood the middle, stop the run and force manning to throw ducks deep and to the sidelines ripe to jump them and pick them off.

The colts of all teams did this perfectly against manning last year...and we steamrolled that team.

Not sure how manning going 5-9 for 69 yards while overthrowing receivers with ducksdeclares he is back

Yes. AJ has been a servicable backup.

Dalton had been having a very good year. He potentially could have been turning the corner.

It remains to be seen if that would have carried over in the playoffs

Manning lookedshot from game 1 of the season after a whole off season...so i dont buy that a few weeks off will suddenly have him look like the manning of old

Me either, unless there was an injury that he was hiding that's just now healed. I don't think it's the case either, and am solidly in believe-it-when-I-see-it mode. And I didn't see it on Sunday, but will still acknowledge that it's a possibility.
