I'll take "Headlines You'll Never See on NFL.com for a thousand Alex."
Ian can vouch for this but there are various members of the Boston sports media that frequent this site on a regular basis. While the national mediots won't say it, I guarantee this is what they are thinking.

I speak truth.

A tragic mistake. They were a threat with Osweiler. Peyton is horrible this year aside from one good half vs KC and a great game vs GB. It might very well cost them Osweiler re-signing too. Would be an awesome double wamming. Osweiler is a starting quality QB.

do you guys really think we are better off (from a pats perspective) with manning as the starter?

Anyone who thinks Osweiler would be a better ch0ice to start a playoff game for Denver is delusional. Forehead Omaha's experience and leadership make him a no-brainer despite however compromised his throwing ability might be (reports on which vary). He likely will play well vs. a porous Steeler defense, assuming that's who they face.

In before he announces he's retiring after this season and everyone thinks Broncos are the 2012 Ravens.

What about last week? He did the best job I've ever seen handing the ball off to the running back.

Coming back to my last post: what the Hell are teams thinking when they announce something like this? What in God's name is the point? "Here... have a free week of preparation on us". You'd think they would at least want their future opponent to prepare for both quarterbacks and have to dedicate the time to do so. I would have to think this news came straight from that horse tooth jackass Elway.

Well, coming back down to earth a little I can understand why Kubiak is doing this. Osweiler is banged up and wasn't that great vs SD. They team has said via the press that PM gave them a huge lift. Maybe this HGH crap has created a "Us vs Them" dynamic in the DEN locker room. Announcing this early might allow the team to get the HGH question crap out for the way and get them focused for all of next week. Osweiler was not great vs Pitt in the 2nd 1/2 but was better vs Cinci.

All of this does not change the fact that HGH boy is a shell of the player he was with a bad foot and a noodle arm. Plus the opponent now knows who the QB will be.

Osweiler is shell-shocked. Manning has the knowledge and confidence to help the team more. I'd much rather play them with Osweiler.

Peyton has always been bad in the playoffs. He has 9-17 td-int ratio and Osweiler has a 10-6. I'd rather ride out the kid and see what he can do. It's very unlikely Peyton could hold up for 3 straight games. Defense and CJ Anderson and Ronnie Hillman would have to play out of their minds. It's a no brainer for me to go with Osweiler. Plus Osweiler is a much better fit for Kubiak's system. That same logic of that experience would have been similar to benching Brady for Bledsoe in my opinion.

Not to rain on the "one and done again!" parade and I'm not one for conspiracy theories.... but this move give me pause.

Remember the going away present Jerome Bettis got from the league in Super Bowl XL? I still believe to this day something was up with that game. So there is precedent. And I'm sure the league would love to see a storybook ending here too with Peyton.

And don't forget - they are remotely calling penalties from 345 park avenue.

Pats would be advised to do what is necessary to blow the Broncos out in the championship game assuming both teams get there.

maybe they are going to dupe teams into thinking manning will start and then pull a last minute switch and name osweiller starter the night before.

I COULD agree that the advantage 5HGHead gives them is experience and knowing what plays to audible to, but I never thought he did that very well (throwing way too much) and he hates the offense the way it is. In a playoff game there is just no doubt he will use that experience to make sure he gets the heroic chances, even when he can't throw the route, and the defense over plays it.
He is actually a liability in that way, especially in crunchtime. It has a lot to do with being Sir Oneanddone, and that was when he could throw.

The media has already convinced us that Manning is far too classy to do something like that to.

Peyton has played well this year when he was well rested. Fortunately for us, if we do play him, it will be a week after he has likely played a tough fought divisional round game.

2012 Ravens with the murderer too.

Kubiak didn't really have a choice after benching Brock last week. Peyton will play fine after 2-weeks rest. He looked good after the bye when they stomped the Packers. He will have trouble in the AFCCG without any rest but the refs will help him out. Sorry I'm a conspiracy/glass half empty guy.

Fear not... rather, watch this for a while... I can't take my eyes off it... the beauty... the poetry... it's like balm for the soul.

Yes. It's cold outside and Manning was putrid even when it wasn't. The Broncos basically just chose to start Bledsoe over Brady in the playoffs. What an idiotic decision, totally driven by a coach bowing to media narrative instead of making the decision that puts his team in the best place to win.

He still threw floaters vs GB. In addition GB were missing their top 2 CBs and Clay Matthews was a statue.
