OT: Henry Ruggs redemption?

Not open for further replies.
He was playing for ATL at the time and it was happening on his Virginia property.. a whistleblower tapped the FBI and others who were actually doing it conspired against vick ultimately he took the fall.. as it was happening on his property..

Vick admitted to financing the operation, gambling on outcomes and killing dogs that 'tested poorly' in training bouts by hanging or drowning them. He was not some victimized bystander..That's straight up BS although his lawyer no doubt appreciates you buying the crap he was selling prior to Vick's formal admissions in copping a plea

Not quite the same.

Stallworth had been drinking yes, but he was going 50 mph in a 40 mph zone. Still had the wherewithal to flash his lights and honk his horn and hit the brakes when the man he killed jumped out in front of him on the bus lane trying to catch his bus. Immediately called 911 to get some help for the victim. Messed up, stayed at the scene, fully cooperated with police, took responsibility, did his time.

Ruggs drove 156 mph (that is not a typo… one hundred and fifty six), slammed into a car which burst into flames and burned a woman and her dog to death. Refused sobriety test, took a plea deal, is doing his time.

I believe Ruggs should be allowed a chance to earn an honest living after paying his debt to society, but not the same career that afforded him the Corvette he ruined lives with. I don’t think Stallworth should’ve been allowed either, though I’m less forgiving of DUI’s than others may be. But I at least see Stallworth’s situation as one that could’ve happened to anyone even sober. 156 mph in a city street in excusable for anyone, drunk or not.
Not to go off topic with this thread, and I’m not disbelieving him, but if you slam on your brakes and honk your horn where does flashing your lights come into play if you end up hitting someone? Just seems like a lot of activity

Agreed my guy.. Just was stating what was transpiring at the time vick obviously had to take part in it.. but he nonetheless took the fall.. as he should have..when the feds cornered those involved they ratted on him.. it's despicable what he did.. I'm an animal lover myself with 3 pets.. I remember watching the interview from the Informant on ESPN.. 2007..

.
I hear you, and I'm not excusing Ruggs.

But to me doing something while excessively intoxicated is an apples/oranges comparison to committing a heinous act with a clean and sober mind. When a person is that much under the influence they don't realize how impaired they are.

Focusing solely on the end result, yes, a fiery death is far worse than receiving a beating, no matter how traumatizing for the victim.
I'm pulling back and looking at the whole picture from a macro perspective with all the circumstances, and not just that end result.

I get your point. But in this case we will just have to agree to disagree.

Thats fine JM, i dont expect everyone to agree with me on anything. Imo Ruggs murdered that woman and her dog. And Ruggs made the conscious decision to get ****faced before getting behind the wheel. And he wasn"t oit in the middle of nowhere, he was doing over 150 in a city.

Don't stallworth committed the same crime and saw redemption..

No. Dont'e Stallworth didn't commit the same crime. Stallworth hit a pedestrian while under the influence. and doing 50mph in a 40 zone. Due to his plea deal, he spent 30 days in jail, 2 years under house arrest and then 8 years on probation.

Ruggs rear-ended Tina Tintor while he was doing 156mph.. She burned to death because her car was so damaged she couldn't get out. Ruggs was sentenced to 3-10 years in prison.

Claiming it's the "same crime" is absolutely ridiculous on your part.

I get your overall point and I totally agree not excusing Ruggs at all.. point I'm making is in both cases someone lost thier life. Both men made bad choices to get into a vehicle and of course one resulted from speeding and the other resulted from impairment..

These cases are seeming to happen alot with these NFL players.. younger generation.. I'm 47 and my era was the 90s.. we weren't seeing this happening in that generation at this rate.... players had more common sense and regard for human life seemingly..

In Massachusetts as the laws have changed if you refuse a breathalyzer your license is automatically suspended.. I don't have any beverage outside the comfort of my home myself..

On ruggs yeah.. it's terrible I saw the accident footage on YouTube.. just so sad.. it didn't have to happen..
That's like saying that the situation are the same because the cars were the same color.. *SMH* It's insulting to the victims to say that the cases are the same because a person lost their life.

I think they got the restitution from the criminal case and not a civil suit. If I were them , a civil suit will follow after his release, I just see this as a case to get something positive out of a terrible terrible event and not just throw the baby with the bath water. It sounds like redemption in public opinion will be hard for him but I believe in personal redemption be it in the NFL or life in general. We all deserve a second chance. One can imagine their loved ones as the victim and be angry . One can also imagine their loved ones as being the complete moron Ruggs was and wanting them to redeem themselves. We all make mistakes, some mistakes can lead to terrible consequences but life should offer a way back if you are no longer the moron you were.

I don't believe in second chances for murderers.

**** that! This mother****er should be in prison for the rest of his life, not making millions playing football. He got drunk and ran into a womans car from behind doing 130 miles per hour, trapping the woman and her dog in the car, and both burned to death trying desperately to get out. If i saw him on a street i would run him over, then back over him multiple times to make sure the job was fully done.
This! 100%!!

I love redemption cases especially if there is a chance it will help the families of victims. My thinking here is a wrongful death lawsuit. He has money making talent, he made a grievous error and I don’t think 3 years was enough punishment to be honest but with that said, he can provide additional restitution through future financial compensation. What are your thoughts on Henry Ruggs? Is there a chance he can play in the NFL again? How will you feel if your team brings him in to camp? He is a free agent and obviously this will be a polarizing topic but hoping to here others on this topic
Trying to win worst and most cringy post of all time? This can’t be real right?

That’s be an ideal Belichick one season contract, but that’s ancient history.

They have money, Justin Jefferson should be on the table

No Thanks, 35M per year demands weak sauce elsewhere.

FWIW.....If you haven't ever had to knock on a door at 2am and tell someone there has been an accident then I will simply tell you it is absolutely gut wrenching. If Ruggs truly seeks redemption it wont be on a football field. He will stand before others and relive that night in the hopes of preventing someone else from doing the same. He will have served his punishment but he will answer for those actions again when it matters most. I hope he will be prepared. If Vrabel is who he says he is ( I believe he is) this would not be a consideration whatsoever.

Not that there needed to be another shoe that dropped to make this a terrible idea, but Ruggs just got moved to medium security for some infraction.

Guy’s a piece of **** and has probably learned nothing.

You are much too lenient. Some things are irredeemable, in this life. Let St Peter deal with that in the afterlife, when he decides whether to send him up or down. The young lady and her dog don’t get a second chance, neither should their killer.
One can imagine their loved ones as the victim and be angry . One can also imagine their loved ones as being the complete moron Ruggs was and wanting them to redeem themselves.
Nope. Sorry but my loved ones aren’t complete morons. They have morals and values that would prevent them from doing such a selfish and irresponsible act.
We all make mistakes, some mistakes can lead to terrible consequences but life should offer a way back if you are no longer the moron you were.
Nope. Life doesn’t work like that. Actions have consequences. Those consequences cannot be erased, forgotten, nor forgiven.

Ruggs is a complete POS who should never be allowed to play professional football again. That said, if he is reinstated, I almost guarantee he goes to the Chiefs whose culture he would fit like a glove.

So, I looked him up and the case and read due to drunk driving he killed somebody.
He was doing about 150 on city streets and hit some poor young woman who, along with her dog, was engulfed in flames and perished in what can only be described as one of the most horrendous ways to go. My prayer is that she was unconscious and felt no pain, though we don’t really know.

I don’t want to hear a sympathy tale about “redemption.” This man was blessed with every advantage a human being can reasonably be given, and that’s how he behaved.

He stood there and watched a woman and her dog burn to death in the cat he destroyed and trapped them in. There is no ****ing redemption for that other than lighting yourself on fire and going out the same way. If Henry wants to redeem himself he can pour gasoline all over himself and I will redeem him with the match.
