OT: Favre can't stop talking

Agreed, Shmess. I almost threw up in my mouth when I heard Trent Dilfer, just a few minutes ago in Sportscenter, call BF the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. Wow. Montana, Marino, Elway, Brady, Manning, and Unitas, just off the top of my head, are all disrespected by that statement.

Is Vinny T, in the top ten in passing yards, one of the greatest ever? I'm not saying Favre is Vinny, but he also isn't even in the top five, let alone greatest QB ever.

1) Green Bay would have beeen in a better position to get to Tampa in Feb.,with Brett Favre.

2) Brett Favre will self destruct in NY and it will be fun to watch.

I do not see him thriving with the "much improved" ahem - JESTS.

I don't disagree with either statement. However, the key to building a stable, consistently winning franchise is not to look at just this year, but have the future in mind. Once Favre retired, the Packers moved on, making it irrelevant how he would do for them this year.

But GOD I hope #2 comes true

Favre = Deranged Narcissist.

Honestly, there is something mentally wrong with that man. It may not be his own fault, however. No athlete in history (especially an athlete with only ONE championship) has ever been fawned over quite so much as the NFL record holder of career interceptions.

This man has been living in a cocoon of psycophants for over a decade. It had to have had a tremendous effect on the man's mind.

If it had been up to Jerry Glanville he'd have been out of football after his rookie season. Football didn't matter to him, having fun with it and lots of other things did. Holmgren and others tied themselves up in knots dragging him kicking and screaming into a playoff contender. They did it only because of the dearth of remotely functional talent at the position. And once Holmgrem won one he bailed for greener pastures sans Brett. Although he took the understudy with him for the same reason only to find he had to beat the Farve out of him for so long it essentially burnt Mike out to the point he's retiring at least for a while after this season.

If things don't pan out as scripted in the Big Apple, Farve is finally gonna have that cocoon peeled off the hard way...

Finding someone to blame in this soap opera at this time is irrelevant. The real story is that rather than concentrating on his first opponent, Favre is telling war stories. It's obvious he's obsessed with everything that has nothing to do with his current team, current job, and current objectives. I find that amusing, and potentially a perfect setup for the chance to get his head handed to him when the bullets are live.

And the double-headed media monsters will turn on him in a heartbeat should he not live up to the drumbeats of hype and history they've been ascribing to him ever since his "retirement."

You're not alone by any means. In fact I know Vikings fans who said they didn't even want the ol' hillbilly on their team. One guy told me flat out, "If Favre becomes a Viking, I'll find another team." (And this was a guy from the Twin Cities...)

I'll admit some of the blame lies with the Packers for not just releasing him right away. If he signed with Minnesota or Chicago, so what? Show your DBs the film, they should be able to tell when he's about to throw a terrible bomb pass they could pick off.

But 90% of the blame lies with Favre. Every year the last few years he was ****ing around, will I come back or not? Then this year he finally hung it up, and within days the rumors were spreading he would come back.

Rumor has it that just a couple weeks after his big tearful drama-queen press conference, he called Mike McCarthy and said he wanted to come back. They talked at length, and Favre said he had made up his mind 100%, he wanted back in. So the Packers got a press release ready and then called him up and said, "Okay, we're about to send the press release" and Favre changed his mind.

Then the week before the draft he did it again - told them not to draft a QB because he was coming back... then the day before the draft changed his damn mind AGAIN.

Favre put this team in a hopeless position and he needs to shut his damn mouth once and for all. I can't wait until week 2 when we spank his useless arse all over New Jersey.

what pisses me off most is all the other QB jobs in the league he took for granted and spoilt them or made their relationships with their teams worse

the first 2 guys had no fault of their own and had to go through his **** about returning espcially tavaris jackson. when favre says to the media he told green bay he wants to play for a divisional rival/vikings imagine how jackson must have felt all along. and favre has not such consideration. according to him its a business except when it comes to him.

I agree whole heartedly with the 2nd.

As for the first, they really have no chance with either guy at QB. Last year was their chance. They don't have last year's joke of a schedule so they aren't playing games at home in January no matter who the QB is. You might as well develop the kid.
