It's amazing that you can type with your head that far up your rear.
That the poll doesn't include Tippett is preposterous. For the benefit of those who may not understand NFL football was played here before the mid 90's; Haynes and Tippett are the best defensive players to ever take the field for the Pats. Opposing teams game planned around them and as a fan your eyes were on them every snap they were on the field

Big Sey and Law are legit HoF players but they aren't in the same class as Haynes.
Very few are.
Really?? Lol.. ok.. why don't you trying reading the post commentary before you open your trap. The post exchange was between myself and jimnance on legends at CB... we were just having a little fun.. is that allowed on the forum.. Lol.

However I happen to agree with you on Tippet and haynes.. as I was a youth in the 80s.. Haynes played here 6 seasons... I think tip played longer right? Seymour, hayes and Law are all HOFs.. when you get to the NFL HOF your all equal, your all on the same team there is nothing higher that the NFL HOF we can debate all day as fans, posters.. but once a guy gets in the HOF there really is nothing to debate.

Best ever Coach: Bill
Best GOAT: Tom
Best ever TE: Gronk
Best ever OL: Hog

It's not really how I would have thought it to go, but if you break them down by who is the best ever to to it, then these are the guys. I wanted Law, but he's not the best CB of all time.

@Pape

I read it all and it was more than enough to illustrate your ignorance. For instance this gem told me you had no idea who Mike Haynes was...

I like @jimnance ...lol but I don't think he's right on that assessment.. he also mentioned Hayes arguably was considered the best CB all time.. he's ranked #49.. and no HOF..

WTH was that about? Did you confuse him with Lester Hayes?
Ice up son

My Man. If coaches go on Mt Rushmore then it's hard to argue your list. Brady and The Hog are inarguably the best at their respective positions. Belichick and Gronk might draw some argument but the debates would end in no worse than a draw.

Absolutely positively agree.. with everything you mentioned... and he played 20 seasons!! 10 NFL season!! Ty law was probably the most physical of them all.. ty just had that natural strength and his leverage was sick!!.. I will tell you a guy we have... already that we will likely be talking about in a year or 2 as the best CB in football is Gonzo. Has everything u want in a lockdown CB..
I've been watching pro football since the 60's.
No cb has ever done what Gonzo did before he hot hurt.
Not Deion,not nobody.
One of the most amazing things Ive ever seen in the NFL.
A rookie, but he was the best cb in the league. Period.
We'll see how he progresses and if he can stay healthy. If he does, he's destined for greatness

I think if I had a "My favorites" Rushmore it'd be different. Of course, I'd want like 6- or 8 of 'em up there too. I could stack 'em like cord wood. Jules would be up there, with Ty Law and Tedy and Big Vince. Maybe even another level with Rodney, Willie and Randy too.

Love that insight.. I definitely respect someone who's watched football for 6 decades.. you always have great reading post.. not like this poster who chimes in and shoots his mouth off not knowing what we discussed.. lol.. he knows who he is.. but on gonzo your absolutely correct the key for him is remaining healthy.. I say we lock up tee Higgins and double chase.. that will cripple the Bengals offense. Week1.

Yes teams had to game plan for Tippet … because there was no one else to game plan for, I always wondered if Tippet had played on a better team he could have gotten LT accolades.

Big Vince up on Rushmore with his big belly !!!

Sims and Adams for DE's and (the criminally underrated ) Don Blackmon on the other side, the outside guys on that front with Tippett were not too shabby. LT had the benefit of Marshall (borderline HoF'er) playing on the same side on most snaps. They just created havoc together, like a men against boys level of havoc.

On the NFL all time 100 team Brady, Gronk, Hannah, Haynes, Moss and Vinitieri were on the list. I think you need to choose from that list.

Brady, Gronk and Hannah are locks.

Moss didn't play enough prime years with the Patriots so I'd take him out. Any other kicker and I'd laugh but AV is a special case. That said AV did play more games for the Colts than Patriots and even in his case I have to discount the kicker.

So then it comes down to do you include coaches on Mt Rushmore's. I'm inclined not to so I'd take Haynes who is very underrated on this board unless you were old enough to see him play. He's as good as the more modern players who made the NFL 100 from the DB position in Reed, Rod Woodson and Deion. Woodson is probably the best comp for Haynes in terms of having both size and athleticism.

I'm not going to argue putting coaches on. People are going to feel one way or the other. Bill is on the Mount Rushmore of all coaches so he's definitely the 4th if you're inclined to coaches.

I also have to assume the 2.4 percent who didn't vote for Brady are either trolls from other fan bases or Bill rumpswabs who can't get over it.

Brady & Hannah should both be at 100%. No realistic argument can be made against either of them.

For the Mt. Rushmore thing I don’t really consider coaches so Belichick isn’t on mine.

Brady Hannah Gronk Tippett
That's fair because my son said if you include BB, maybe RLK should be the fourth.

I think i'd get voted off the island if i did that... not sure too many people would appreciate a Mt Rushmore headlined by Larry Whigham and Russ Hochstein, lol...

they are "locks".

The are 1 and 2, respectively. Brady stands so far above anyone else, it shouldn't even be a consideration not to vote for him.

I don't think so. He would have gotten more recognition, but not the LT level.

Tippet was good, very good. But LT was in a class by himself. For guys of that era, I would put Tip behind LT but ahead of just about everyone else

Oh I'm sure Haynes was...I mean I didn't watch Haynes play so I can't definitely say Haynes was far superior... if the Patriots had won superbowls during Haynes era.. I think your argument would hold more weight. Ty law is a hall of famer instrumental in all 3 early dynasty championships.. rules were changed because of him.. also Haynes played in the jack Tatum era where you could do anything to WRs.. again I know Haynes was phenomenal.. I just can't say he was overwhelmingly better than law. 2 different eras.
They WOULD have won a SB in the Haynes era except for Ben Dreith.
