I'm embarrassed to say that I forgot about Tippett. Having thought more about it, the fourth should be between Tippett, Morgan and Law. I still can't choose.I'm only voting on who I saw play:
BB for coaching and putting the staff/team together.
Brady for becoming Brady.
Gronk was the most important draft pick in the 2010's. Had he not been drafted, I don't think they win another Super Bowl and Tom leaves the team by 2016.
Ty Law. I love McGinest, but Law gets the edge.
However, I'd argue Richard Seymour should be considered. Like Gronk, had Bill drafted David Terrell and not Seymour, they don't win the Super Bowl, and may not have even made the playoffs in 2001. The defense ran through him. Aside from Brady, he was the most important draft pick in that ignited the 1st dynasty.

Haynes was better than Law. Many people have Haynes as the best NFL cb all time. He's always ranked no lower than #3. I love Law, but he's not in the same class as Haynes. For myself I was a kid when Haynes played.. however from what I know absolutely a great player in own right.. however I lean to law because you know your a Bad MF.. when the rules get changed due to you!
Oh I'm sure Haynes was...I mean I didn't watch Haynes play so I can't definitely say Haynes was far superior... if the Patriots had won superbowls during Haynes era.. I think your argument would hold more weight. Ty law is a hall of famer instrumental in all 3 early dynasty championships.. rules were changed because of him.. also Haynes played in the jack Tatum era where you could do anything to WRs.. again I know Haynes was phenomenal.. I just can't say he was overwhelmingly better than law. 2 different eras.Haynes was better than Law. Many people have Haynes as the best NFL cb all time. He's always ranked no lower than #3. I love Law, but he's not in the same class as Haynes.
But for the Pats MtRushmore it needs to be players who played at least 75% of their career in New England. Haynes played exactly half his career here so I'd give the nod to Law. Same reason I'd rule out both Seymour and Rodney.
So I'm confused ty law is a HOF Haynes I don't believe is? But Haynes was better? Seymour absolutely a beast.. and also a HOF... by your logic you sure tippet wasn't better?..Seymour was the best Pats defensive player of the early dynasty.
Not Law. Not Willie. Not Bruschi.
The players will tell you the same thing.
The people behind the scenes at times are as, or even more important than the ones getting all the accolades. Hard to quantify. I’m gonna have to agree with Rainmaker thou… 4 solid picks.Same could be Saif for earnie adams... and Alex Guerrero... TB12 said himself if not for Guerrero he would have retired in his early 30s..
Absolutely agree.. as I look back and the layers are peeled back we see how instrument adams was to Bill and same for Guerrero... my 4 picks were TB12, Bill, ty law, gronkThe people behind the scenes at times are as, or even more important than the ones getting all the accolades. Good point … Tippet was a beast on incredibly crappy teams…So I'm confused ty law is a HOF Haynes I don't believe is? But Haynes was better? Seymour absolutely a beast.. and also a HOF... by your logic you sure tippet wasn't better?..
Those three ints in the afc championship game definitely come into play.Absolutely agree.. as I look back and the layers are peeled back we see how instrument adams was to Bill and same for Guerrero... my 4 picks were TB12, Bill, ty law, gronk
I like @jimnance ...lol but I don't think he's right on that assessment.. he also mentioned Hayes arguably was considered the best CB all time.. he's ranked #49.. and no HOF.. also Willie and bruschi were already clear definitive patriots HOF worthy players before Seymour got there. Willie doesn't make the goal line stop at Indy... we would have gone to Indy instead of them coming to 8 degrees, snowy Foxboro that year in 2003...Good point … Tippet was a beast on incredibly crappy teams…
Absolutely agree. Can someone put up a mike Haynes championship moment? I really want to be educated on him.. I mean I'm 46.. but if he was so much better than law I want to learn more about his game. Those three ints in the afc championship game definitely come into play.
This is tough. Hannah was a road grader for a guy that wasn’t huge. 6-2 probly played at 250. He destroyed guys out there.Absolutely agree.. as I look back and the layers are peeled back we see how instrument adams was to Bill and same for Guerrero... my 4 picks were TB12, Bill, ty law, gronk
Yes Hannah I did see play old Sullivan stadium.. frozen on those bench lolThis is tough. Hannah was a road grader for a guy that wasn’t huge. 6-2 probly played at 250. He destroyed guys out there.
I agree on the non Hayes pick. A smooth player but different rules.I like @jimnance ...lol but I don't think he's right on that assessment.. he also mentioned Hayes arguably was considered the best CB all time.. he's ranked #49.. and no HOF.. also Willie and bruschi were already clear definitive patriots HOF worthy players before Seymour got there. Haynes played in the jack Tatum era you could do whatever you wanted downfield.
Maybe it’s because he would be considered a shut down corner for that era. He was definitely a smoother runner, but he didn’t go up against the offenses Ty went up against. They changed rules because of Ty. Then he had to adapt after , still had a stellar career. Just wish they both finished their careers here … I still have tapes somewhere of Ty at Michigan.Absolutely agree. Can someone put up a mike Haynes championship moment? I really want to be educated on him.. I mean I'm 46.. but if he was so much better than law I want to learn more about his game.
I agree. As I mentioned before, Seymour was the catalyst of the defense and their best player. I remember every broadcast his name was mentioned as he freed up others.Seymour was the best Pats defensive player of the early dynasty.
Not Law. Not Willie. Not Bruschi.
