Schefter just tweeted.

its a good thing they just gave sammy so much cash, now they can draft a qb and develop him for two months before making bradford a 16 million dollar a year bench warmer.

@nfldraftscout
"Cleveland isn't done trading" - rival GM. Thinks the Browns will try and package picks for more picks upon more picks

If the new Browns analytics FO values volume, I hope we try to trade with them. We might be able to pull off a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 6th to move up all the way to 32, even though trade value chart wise it doesn't quite work.

32
60
96

could be our day 2 picks

18 million

11 mil signing bonus and 7 mil salary for 2016. Crazy. Bradford is an average QB who will be 29 this year and has never been able to stay on the field.

Awesome watching dumb teams get fleeced to trade up so that they can draft mediocre QB prospects. But I'm not ruling out Zeke Elliott as the target, to keep him away from Dallas at 4. Either way, so much dumb going on in Philly.

Everyone loves making fun of "Analytics", as if facts and data are bad things. Paul DePodesta is a very smart man who got run out of LA by idiots like Frank McCourt and Bill Plaschke. His successor was a buffoon who hired Grady Little to manage the team, but he was a "baseball man." He may be the best hire Cleveland has made since a certain hoodied crank.

Trading up to draft a running back would be somehow even worse.

In the end it's probably not that big of a deal. It's just an eggs-in-one-basket thing. If the quarterback works out, great, it was worth it. The Rams got three starting-caliber players out of the Griffin trade: Brockers, Ogletree, and Jenkins, with Greg Robinson as a below-average starter thus far.

But in a perfect world the Rams also could have stayed put and taken Matt Kalil or Luke Keuchly, both of whom are tremendous players and probably worth more than those four players combined to their teams. Then again, they also could have taken Trent Richardson or Justin Blackmon or Morris Claiborne, who are...not.

It's such a crapshoot.

For what it's worth, Bradford works well with Wentz since Wentz desperately needs a redshirt year, and Bradford can give the team a shot to win.

Goff is more ready to be thrown to the fire for week 1, which makes sense for a team who's only other option is Case Keenum.

If the Eagles draft in the top 10 next year, this trade will be a disastah. If they're in the top 5.... D:

I want to agree except for the crapshoot part. I definitely do not condone trading up to take a back, this was just a First! type comment to be the one to bring it up. Giving up your first next year and a bushel of other picks is just bizarre to me when you're already bad. They're probably giving Pedersen his hand picked QB.

The Rams aren't the best comparison because it was Mustache Mullett Moron making the picks, and he's, oh he's so dumb.

Edit again---well looks like Eagles aren't going Elliott (smart) but wow look at those quotes from Howie. They're a dumb team. We're lucky to have 3 GMs better than most teams have.

You may be right, it probably depends on whether or not Haslam actually will support him through an extended (up to five year) complete rebuilding period.

One quote (from: Will Paul DePodesta and Moneyball work in Cleveland?) said: "Upon meeting Haslam, DePodesta explained how most owners treat Moneyball approach like a child riding a roller coaster. Kids beg to ride, wait in line for 45 minutes, get to front of line, see giant first hill and say, "I'm not getting on that thing." DePodesta states owners often want disciplined, process-oriented plan. But when it comes time to make tough decision, they panic. DePodesta told Haslam, "There are gong to be parts of the roller coaster that are going to be scary, that are going to be uncomfortable, but hopefully at the end of the ride, when we get off, you're going to want to say, 'Let's do it again.'"

If Haslam actually gives DePodesta free rein (I don't know how likely that is), this could be a brave experiment for Cleveland. Certainly this trade with the Eagles seems like a smart first step to me.

Great trade by the Browns

Eagles acquire 2 overall and a 4th round pick in 2017 from CLeV. Browns receive 8th overall pick, a 3rd (#77 overall), a 4th (#100 overall), a 1st round pick in 2017 and a 2nd round pick in 2018.
Since the Eagles gave up a 2nd rounder last year for Bradford, they now have #2, #79 and #153 ( plus 4 more later picks) this year and they don't pick until the 3rd round (edit- 2nd round- I didn't realize that other 2nd rounder was 2018) next year.......Not a smart way to build a club.....
