OT: Chase Winovich Retires

While there is some flexibility, BBs system expects that players do not gamble to get to the QB or make a big play. Winovich didn't work out because he was a liability who could not stop the run or contain the edge. He played mostly ST after leaving here.

He also was an already maxxed-out but still weak, relatively short, over-aged college player who sucked at rushing an NFL QB because he had below-average speed-to-power conversion. I should've known better. Speaking of maxxed-out...

He is definitely, I think, the sort of fella who will land on his feet. I wish him well. He'd make a Hell of a cabana boy, for example.
Maybe he found himself a Sugar Momma and decided the life of a cabana boy beats being one of a bunch of large men committing mayhem on each other as a job/lifestyle. Certainly less risk of CTE.

Or he could take Fabio's place to do whatever the **** Fabio did.

I see what you did there, LOL. Mac may not be the QB of the future, he is the QB of right now. Maybe with your support his pocket presence will improve.

Wino's all set for retirement, he's got a five dollar bill and an overcoat too!

L.A. in the summer of '69
I went downtown and bought me some wine
Oh, I drank it down under the table
I said: watch me now
I'm gonna eat the label
Well I'm a wino man
Don't you know I am?

36 - 24, hips about 30
I seen a fine lady
And I started talkin' dirty
Boy, she looked over at me
And she raised her thumb
She said: "Jam down the road
You bum, bum, bum, bum"
I'm a wino man
Don't you know I am?

I went to the country
And while I was gone
I lost control of my body functions
On the road ahead at the ladies front lawn
I'm so ashamed
But I'm a wino man
I can't help myself

I've been drinkin' all night
Till my eyes got red
Stumbled on the gutter
And busted my head
Bugs in my zoot suit
Been scratchin' like a dog
I can't stand no water
And I stink like a hog
Give me a five dollar bill
And an overcoat too
Give me a five dollar bill
And an overcoat too
A five dollar bill and an overcoat too
A five dollar bill and
a Florsheim shoe

I remember Florsheim Shoes stores too... Thom McAn, Bostonian, Buster Brown... I think All of them had their own back then.

I had thought I should've added "during the 2019 draft" after maxxed-out... But well done for understanding the reference regardless.

I remember Steelers fans were pissed when we drafted him a few picks in front of them.
BB should have sold high.
I also remember he said he was willing to do whatever the team asked of him a couple pre-seasons in a row...which told me he wasn't.

Fun fact -- I've been living in Nashua since 1991 and only recently discovered that Thom McAn were made in Nashua in a building I drive by all the time! They moved out a long time ago, though. I do remember their stores in the mall in the town I grew up in, and do remember being fitted for their shoes there!

Almost sounds like the beginning of the original Jumanji movie!

He said that, but it didn't mean he could.

He was at his best when he could just pin his ears back, not dropping into coverage.

Yep... or setting an edge... or engaged in 1-on-1 battles...

He showed promise, but that was an illusion from the scheme Flores had with multiple guys rushing the QB ("Boogeyman"). Once T's caught on to his only rush move, he looked 2008 Vrabel. He was also getting pancaked in the run game.
