OT: Cards release Michael Floyd

The guy is talented for sure but... IMO it sets a bad precedent this year. It's like unofficially telling the players on the roster here there are no ramifications for driving under the influence. I would be shocked if he could even get anywhere near prepared to play in the offense here. In Arizona they pretty much run a number route tree passing scheme, here it its defensive recognition route adjustments. Just my .02 cents.

Alan Branch is with the Pats because of a DUI

At first, i was enthusiastic, even. But, as everyone should do, i thought twice about it.

Do we really need a "Stretcher, Y type of receiver?

Hogan can do it admirably for likely less. And he is better at other roles.
Mitchell can do it fine, for a lot less. And he is better at other roles as well.

Honestly, he would be wasted.

It's a subjective opinion. In my original post I started it with "IMO"

But it's not an opinion, because we have Alan Branch who's already set the precedent you're claiming would be set:

Cut by Bills in August, 2014
Signed by Patriots in October, 2014

Your claiming this would be precedent is a factual error.

Cardinals fans were not pleased with Floyd. Apparently he wasn't always on the same page or running the right routes. So it's a no for me.

As I said in a previous post 1. It's just my opinion they'll do what they'll do and 2. I don't have any issues bringing him here for a clean start next year.

Okay I'll reword it for you IMO they shouldn't give the players on this years team the impression that that there are no ramifications for their actions this year.

Not really. That was preseason-beginning of the season .. with time in between .. like jri suggests actually..

Nonsense. His position is that the team should wait for the next season, not to wait a couple of weeks.

If he can help the team, he should be signed without hesitation, regardless of the DUI. With this team's history of injures, it couldn't hurt to add someone like him.

You mean like Ninkovich flunking a PED test, or Branch flunking a drug test?

If you want to compare drunk driving which endangers other people's lives to a person taking PED's then you are absolutely correct. As far as Branch is concerned is it possible to fail a drug test then not fail a drug test.

I doubt that he will clear waivers mostly because whoever claims him gains a chance at a compensatory pick. For some teams 880k can be a small investment for a potentially free 4th rounder.

This will never happen, but not because of of the DUI, That is reason to be wary of player but not enough to exclude him (see Alan Branch). The real issue for Bill is whether he thinks he can help the team win games. And that is unlikely. He's underacheieved all season. BB got to see him first hand do nothing gainst the Pats that game, and it hasn't gotten better since September.

This offense is just too complex to bring in a WR like Flyod, espeically if he has no ST value, There is no chance he could pick up the offense. It's differet for Griff. He just has to catch punts for 3 game and learn to run a few crossing patterns, similar to what he was doing in Indy.

I'd be happy to look at him again this off season, but I don't think he's good enough frankly to play here on short notice

So factor this is probably a 4 game suspension, NFL finds out Pats pick him up, NFL drags their feet for three weeks before suspending him and he never plays a game this year...just sayin.

Plus I dont think he has been very good this year...could be a lot of reasons why of course. 33 catches, 446 yards, 4 TD's..its ok I guess.

Ok, now you're beyond trolling and are just being a clown.

I honestly think the guy doesn't have it anymore. No doubting his athleticism, but he just never had the athleticism turn into production, and now the athleticism is gone.

On top of that, it's almost $1M in cap room for a guy just arrested for DUI with an injury history and an unproductive year...wouldn't make much sense 3 weeks before the end.
