OT: Back Specialist needed.. Anyone know the name of the guy who worked on Gronk?

Glad to hear you had successful surgery. Happy you are up and about. I'm still recovering from fcking foot surgery after 4 months. All I can say is stick to the program. Do your PT exercises and stretches. Lay off the booze and smokes while you heal. It will feel better over time.

The human body is ridiculously complex. I had the joint where the big toe connects to the foot replaced with a metal one last year. It hurt for about 6 months, gradually subsiding, until I forgot all about it. Then it started up again with COVID, and faded as the virus symptoms did. It was like the metal joint got arthritis from COVID. So the inflammation they ascribe to COVID found its way to that weak point.

Interestingly enough, there have been more than a few cases of people with Pacemakers getting Coivd that ended up having to have the leads replaced because Covid had a reaction with them and they ended up causing a bacterial infection. I've heard of people with other sorts of metal implants in the both ALSO having issues.

You need a good chiropractic doctor. The basis of chiropractic is the statement that the wrong location of bones in the human body leads to a violation of the internal organs, nerves, muscles and leads to the occurrence of most diseases. The purpose of chiropractic is to identify pathologies and eliminate them with the help of special manual techniques – pressing, moving, kneading. On diamondchiroomaha.com there is an exact description of the prescriptions for whom this method of treatment is suitable. Chiropractic specialists revealed that the spine controls the work of all internal organs, the musculoskeletal system, the circulatory system, the digestive system, the genitourinary system, etc. Therefore, the indications for treatment are very extensive.
I call my chiropractor All-World (he treated the Cubs/Bears, was in the Cubs WS parade). When I has disc problems, he wouldn't touch me.

I have an excellent Chiropractor. He actually diagnosed my disc herniation without xrays or MRI. I had over 30 Chiro visits and 14 PT visits prior to making the decision for surgery.

Some people have asked why I continued Chiro care if it "didn't help" keep me from having surgery. My answer is that the Chiro care reduced the pain that I was having so that life was tolerable. I have no doubt in my mind that my back situation would have been worse without the Chiro care. I believe it kept me from rupturing the disc in question, which would have been a whole different ball of wax.

I appreciate the post, Yvonne..

Mine also diagnosed disc issues without an x-ray. He told me to walk on my heels. I couldn't lift one foot up. Fortunately, I was able to rehab it without surgery.

Yeah.. I was one of the unfortunate ones. My disc herniation got worse from first diagnosis. I'm grateful that it didn't rupture. Just wish there was a better way to fix it than shaving it down.. If there was a way they could put a flexible mesh on it that would squeeze it back between the vertebrae so it wasn't touching the nerve, that would be ideal..

@DaBruinz
I would recommend exhausting all other avenues (rehab/PT, acupuncture, etc) before submitting for another surgery. Subsequent back surgeries (well, all surgeries) get more and more complex with greater risks. The "best" doctor/surgeon isn't always the answer.
...and this is coming from a doctor. Good luck to you!
Agreed, back surgery should be a very, very last resort. My wife, a registered nurse, blew a disc lifting a patient. She's been in for a couple nerve-block injections and the doctor recommended surgery. But after looking into it, surgery was a scary proposition and posed a whole new set of potential problems. So, she resolved to work out like a maniac on strength and flexibility and so far, so good -- proof that things like this can be managed without surgery.

@DaBruinz Sorry for all you have endured. For your back, becoming a workout warrior with a specialized back regimen might be worth a shot. If you're overweight, dropping the extra pounds probably is the place to start. Good luck!

Wow. I’m just catching up on this thread. Sounds like disc herniation has not been your only bad luck in the past year. I feel for you. Really glad to hear the surgery has been a success and hope that’s a sign the overall trend is improving. Best of luck to you going forward!

...

Around the house, yeah. But now I have an excuse to wear them in public. Now I just need to figure out a way to pull off the thigh-high fishnet stockings when we’re out and about and I’ll be set.
maybe you could get some tips from Fnord...

I just want to say I’m sorry for your losses and I hope you can get some relief. Be well.

Why not just rip her spine out of her back? Can’t have back pain without a spine. Seems like a no-brainer solution. We tend to overthink things as a society far too often when the simple answers are often right in front of us.

No, the herniation definitely not been my only piece of bad luck. In fact, I just got out of the hospital after a 6 day stint due to Pancreatitis and Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA). The Pancreatitis was exacerbated (or possibly even caused) by one of my medications and the DKA was caused because of the Jardiance I'm on for by diabetes (genetic). Turns out that Jardiance can cause DKA in people regardless of what their Blood Sugar is. My blood sugar was 90 in the hospital when the lab testing discovered the DKA.

This has set back my rehab and recovery from the back surgery, unfortunately. On Monday, I will get to see just how much..

On a separate note, I'm glad you're still around. I saw your name in some of the old Marquise Hill posts and was hoping you were still around. You've always been one of the more level-headed posters.

Holy ****, dude. Glad you’re okay.

Thanks, Kontra. I know we butt heads when it comes to certain topics.. But you've always shown compassion when the chips were down. Unlike some people.. This is on full display on all the old Marquise Hill Memorial threads..
