OT Aquib Talib

Talib went down with questionable "injuries" when we needed him most, two years in a row, in two very winnable AFCCG games.

Revis helped bring us a Super Bowl trophy.

Would I like Talib on the team now? Sure. But out of all the issues on defense this season, our CBs are very low on the list of priorities.

Now Akiem Hicks on the other hand.....

Not many better than Talib right now.

I have a hard time believing we wouldnt have still won a Super Bowl with Talib as opposed to Revis, whether it had been 2014 or last year. I don't think the difference between the two was enough to cost us a ring, especially since Talib has a ring of his own as an elite corner on a team anyway.

Letting him walk over a very reasonable contract is questionable, although I do understand at the time that injury history was a factor.

When he is on his game (majority of the time he is), I think he is in the top 3 best CBs in the league. He can shut down any receiver he is matched up with and he has great ball skills and instincts.
except for steve smith sr. that guy gets in talib's head.

It seems like lately Bb has let a lot of really good defensive players sign elsewhere in free agency or trade the good ones whose contracts were coming up.

The donkeys have some very good corners. They play alot of man. It's gonna be interesting to see if we can win the one on one matchups. Still worried about the officiating once that game begins.

that pass rush makes him look better. Dont get me wrong hes still great

I think Denver is a better fit for him, he's phyiscal on the line and plays primarily on the outside. Denver's pass rush is perfect since he's not as good on the deep ball and can play tighter coverage than he would be able for us.

Revis was much better than Talib in 2014. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think the Pats might not have won the title that year had Revis been replaced with Talib-especially given how tight the SuperBowl was. Talib was a very good corner. Revis was great.

I have zero regrets. Besides, I can't can't stand that stupid, dirty, eye gouging thug. Denver is a great place for him- dirtiest defense in football. TJ Ward will be hunting Gronk and Brady's knees come week 15.

He's not making much money, just 6-7-9 million a year over the past 3 years for elite level play.

He signed a 6 year deal for 57 million dollars, so I wouldn't exactly place him in the category of a guy who's making peanuts. He was the top free agent CB after the 2013 season if I recall correctly.

His physical play has been what most of us expected. His iron man-like durability has been a pleasant surprise for Broncos fans.

I would agree with this thought, as well.

And Josh Gordon absolutely obliterated him in the matchup against Cleveland in 2013. Although by the second half of 2013 his play had slipped with him dealing with another injury.

Sup, do me a favor and email those numbers to Talib along with what top CBs are now making in 2016 (point out specifically what Revis is making per year). That should help our long term prospects with one of our main AFC rivals ...

I was so excited we had Revis over Talib at the time... time changes everything.

No doubt. Considering that Joe Haden was the top paid at the time around 12m (12.1) dollars, Talib wasn't too far behind, though.

I'm sure if Talib were the same age now with 2.5 more excellent seasons under his belt since the deal, he'd be in the top 5 AAV with Sherman, Peterson, Norman, etc.

It's a pet peeve of mine that people compare current market value with contracts that were signed 2-3 years ago. Just compare what Josh Norman got for his contract last offseason (6y, 75m, 50m guaranteed) to Talib's contract (6yr, 57m, 25.5m guaranteed) and you can see how the market just keeps exploding.

If you'd normalize Talib's contract with the inflated cap space and the relative increase of the market value of CBs I am sure you end up with impressive numbers.

I'm very nervous about that game because we'll very likely have HFA over Denver for the playoffs and they know it's very likely they'll need to get past the Pats to go to another SB.. being that it's week 15, I'm sure Ward and company would love to take Gronk, Bennett and whoever else they can out with serious knee injuries because it would significantly better their chances of success in January

They obviously have no qualms about doing it, Ward had made a name and career for himself by being a dirty piece of ****
