I have trouble even watching this game let alone that catch. But yeah, Samuel blows the coverage. It was a once in a lifetime play that everything went right for the Giants and everything went wrong for the Patriots.

A bit off-topic, but I hate watching Giants games and every time the protection breaks down for Manning and he scrambles and completes a pass, the stupid announcers (live in Mexico) always bring up that freaking play. Always.

I did the same thing, particularly when they said they were going to interview Peyton Manning about the whole tragedy! How many times are we going to be subject to that! Did Rodney actually throw Asante under the bus? If I was him I would have said I couldn't participate in the story as the pain was too fresh. Ridiculous!

Actually Rodney just stood there after pointing out that he had multiple surgeries but this hurt worse. Dan Patrick said he could go, but Saint Dungy said, "No, I want you to comment on this."

Rodney said they were in man, then Saint Dungy points out how Samuel came off his man.

Does anyone have e-mail addresses for NBC.com. What does a game two years ago involving a receiver who is not in the NFL have to do with anything but hurting Rodney. He said it was painful, but they made him watch.

Blofeld never tortured Bond before telling him his plans and leaving.

Rodney noted that the secondary was in man coverage. The film showed that Asante let Tyree go once Eli got flushed, while the others stayed with their men. Rodney just confirmed it.

Dungy confirmed it. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyone got a link?

I'm too junior to post this in a new thread but thought some of you guys would find it interesting (feel free to post in it's own thread if you have the authority to do so):

Fellas -- I get beat up by a lot of my non-Pats friends b/c they say BB is a **** who never shakes hands after a loss. Most recently these same dimwitted friends said BB refused to shake Denver's Josh McDaniels hand a couple weeks back (anyone who was objectively watching the game saw that BB was looking all over the field for JM -- who was doing his best impersonation of Steve Young's super bowl victory lap.)

That's some trademarked Dungy quiet strength right there. If "quiet strength" meant the same thing as "not-so-quiet smug superiority", that is. :snob:

You're making it sound like Asante just sat down and took a seat. He gambled and moved to a place where he thought he could make a play. You're also making it sound like the only play Harrison had a chance to make was the tackle. Harrison was standing there with Tyree like basketball players battling for a rebound. Blame Asante for leaving his man, but overlooking the fact that Harrison was in position to prevent that pass from being completed is being short-sighted.

I'm not sure why you can't accept the obvious.

1.) Samuel left his man to freelance instead of doing his job.

2.) Samuel's man was the player who caught the ball because Samuel was elsewhere.

3.) Harrison's responsibility was NOT to cover Samuel's man, because covering Samuel's man was SAMUEL'S RESPONSIBILITY.

4.) Despite it not being his responsibility, Harrison saw the play develop as a throw to Samuels' man and adjusted his play so that he could make the tackle.

5.) The receiver was hit by Harrison, but somehow managed to hold onto the ball with the aid of his helmet.

Blaming any portion of that play on Harrison is ridiculous. Had Samuels simply followed the Belichick (and now McDaniels, too) mantra of "Do your job!", that pass completion doesn't happen.

And to the guy who said that Harrison's job was to prevent this from turning into a TD, period. I mean, really dude? This was a jump ball between Rodney and Tyree. This was not a game saving TD tackle as you are inferring with your post.

LOL. I don't think I ever posted disagreeing with your points 1-5. I've posted numerous times that Asante blew his coverage and freelanced. That is obvious. But what is also obvious is that you somehow won't allow yourself to comprehend that Rodney was ultimately in the best position to stop that completion. I mean, I love Rodney and I'm not blaming him for that Super Bowl loss, but if you look at that one play and impartially analyze who was in the best position to break up that pass as it sailed through the air, if you can't see Rodney standing there next to Tyree, both not moving and just waiting for the ball, then that's on you buddy. Even Rodney himself said that he should have knocked that ball down. I posted a YouTube link previously and they show several replays in slow motion and different angles. I mean, it's right there and you see Rodney going up for a jump ball. LOL. I didn't know the hate on Asante runs that deep.
