I'm a big AFL supporter going back to the beginning when the NFL crapped all over the Pats and the rest of the AFL, so I've been following the head-to-head battles for more than a half century.

This is a big week for the AFC/NFC. The AFC has a 29-26-1 record with 8 more games to go (4 this week and 4 next week). This week the AFC has one home game, Det@Ten and the NFC has three, NJ@LR, Cle@NG and KC@NO. If the AFC wins 3 of 4 they'll lock up the 2020 season.

Going into this season the AFC was leading in total games 1453-1368 and in the overall season record 32-20-2.

The leagues are tied 27-27 in SB wins. The AFC had a 12-6 lead in the mid 80's but the NFC went on a 13 game winning streak and took an overall 19-12 lead after Tuna Crap threw the Pats-GB game in 95. It took the AFC the next 25 years to catch up, with the NE and KC wins in 2018 & 19.

Let's go AFC.

Who would have ever figured that the Jets would do something useful?

Nobody. ;)

The AFC swept last week and clinched this season's series with 4 games left;
Chi@Jac, NG@Bal, Atl@KC and Ten@GB
They now hold a 33-20-2 lead in seasons won and 1486-1394 overall, not counting ties.
Next up is the Superbowl where the AFC can take their first lead since 1995.

Maybe they should get the best team of the AFC to play the best of NFC and settle this debate.

If you really want to figure out who is the best, make equal schedules. Each team in a conference only plays every other team once.

Then have the #2 AFC team vs #1 NFC, and #2 NFC vs #1 AFC. Winners play for championship.

Or #1 AFC vs #2 NFC in a best of three playoff.

That would never happen though because fans of middle to below average teams would lose interest, which equates to less revenue. Also the current playoff format, division format and scheduling generates much more interest and revenue.
