At first I was against it but I think it you could get him for a 4th or lower, you do it. Or maybe he gets cut? Either way, I agree with the sentiment that we need talent, even if its older, broken toys, he could be a real asset to the WR room and still be a decent weapon for Drake and Josh

Agreed. We have REAL coaching now. Imagine what McDaniels can do with Deebo. He can line up at every position on the field on offense. Factor in pop in the slot, Gibson and Deebo lined up out wide.. or in the backfield. they would be automatic mismatches for LBs and Safeties.

It’s comical that many of the same people who want to pay Tee Higgins like he’s Justin Jefferson are making the most noise about using Atlanta’s 3rd, when they have been the ones arguing the Patriots must overpay to bring in Higgins. The 15 million or so they could save on Deebo would go a long way to signing a Zach Baun or Josh Sweat in free agency, and would rather have Deebo and either one of those guys than Atlanta’s 3rd rounder.

I want whoever removes our current offensive tackles from my sight. Chuks Okafor sucked and quit the team and he still might be our best tackle.

My only argument against this logic train is that what are we saving for, exactly?

Like, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it will be easy to fill this Cap with enough players to make this team competitive. This IS a multi-year process, even though we would like to think that a Commanders style turnaround is possible (It is possible, but AFAIK, they got A LOT of help from an incredible draft last year, and they've been drafting at least a lot for awhile)

THIS is the year, for me, to be as unorthodox (and i mean on the economic term). Go heavy on 1, 2 year deals, guaranteed money. Think about front-loading and trial by fire. Maybe in one of the best world, we just don't have enough to keep everybody long term

I trully think we need to overhaul completely our WR room. I like Boutte, I like Pop, but plain and simple they ain't cutting it. If they can't be clearly our best 3rd, 4th, 5th WR, they need to go

Not only is it your only argument, it's THE only argument, and also the CORRECT argument.

The salary cap only goes up.

I want young talent, and we have the money to pay for young talent in free agency, there's no reason to spend another year shopping at the Wal-Mart dumpster for this year's KJ Osborn.

While you right about Higgins, his price to join NE is going to be different than other teams. If there's a competitive team or a team on the brink that can only pay him close to $30M, the price to go to NE would be significantly higher.

This is not the Patriots dynasty era where they can wait for veteran releases, FA's or trades and have a good shot of signing them to a reasonable deal. Those days are over for now.

Also, the Pats can't keep hoarding cap space. They have to spend most of it within a 4-5 year period.

Clueless Huck because we have the Best WR's Room in the game. FYI Patriots Offense was ranked 31st that was next to last Huck.

Tee Higgins is a #1 here.

Regarding Tee Higgins: Cincinnati is saying all the right things about wanting him back. But you can't pay two Contract year Wide Receivers on the same Team.

How is signing Zach Baun or Josh Sweat, mostly with the money saved by getting Deebo instead of Higgins, “ dumpster diving?”

IMO what they need to spend their money on is good starters, not depth players, and by doing so making last years starters next years depth. I think they can get 5-6 really good starters in this years free agency, and fill starting positions on OL, DL, Edge, and LB with them. Then try to get 2immediate starters out of the draft, and build more depth with the rest of the draft.

I wasn’t suggesting saving the money, I was saying that getting Deeboninstead of Higgins would save 15-17 million they could put towards signing Sweat, Baun, Alaric Jackson, or other players, and I would rather have Deebo and one of those free agents than Higgins.

you seem to have forgotten that the Pats offered Aiyuk and Ridley more money than they agreed to elsewhere.
players have to accept offers.
Pats are wise to have plans A,B,C,D. all should assume Higgins is not interested, even if the Pats offer trumps all by a few Million.

Sweat is the one guy who will be overpriced right now, so at first id out. The others i have no idea what they would command

I wouldnt mind to break the market in certain positions, as long as we prioritize offense this offseason in general. We need to give Maye the best platform possible, even if we scrap by a bit on defense, at least for me

I think spending the money on Higgins would be a waste. I see people always refer to separation, but his separation was lower than Boutte on player profiler and same next gen. Higgins target separation is 1.32 # 84 on player profiler and 2.4 avg separation on Next Gen. Boutte is 1.54 #55 and 2.4 respectively

Speaking of Boutte, I think he is really being slept on. I gotta be honest, I feel like people want Higgins because he is a big name. I am all for letting another team over pay him, but if he becomes a Pat I will root for him like he is my favorite.
