Only 4 draft picks, 2 in the 7th.

My approach wouldn't change. This is a deep draft with not a lot of elite talent, so trade down, get more picks and still get a guy of similar value in the 2nd and early 3rd as you would get at 29. I also wouldn't be against a trade of Mallett or even Spikes if we could get good value.

Don't we get any compensatory picks for loosing Welker and/or Vollmer??

Comp picks from this offseason (if the Pats get any) will be in the 2014 draft.

We would likely trade down with our first and then continue to trade down.

Draft an interior passing rushing DT in the first and pair him next to Wilfork. Draft a G/C in the second that can play at all 3 positions in the interior OL to be the heir apparent to Connolly and/or Logan Mankins in a few season.

Otherwise trade down to acquire more picks to fill more depth spots in the trenches and back end of the defense along with the WR corps.

comp picks have been decided. As was commonly known, we didn't get any. But the Falcons, Ravens and 49ers did and they now have at least 11 picks each (49ers have 17). They'd all make good trade partners for trading back.

Well ... it will be a record haul for FA's for us after the draft ... maybe we strike gold a few times.

We've been taking differing degrees of interest in a lot of UDFA types.

I think one of the 7th round picks will be used of Mark Harrison if he is available.

This draft is really deep in DTs.

If either of J Williams or S Williams or Short is available at #29, can BB really pass up the value those players represent by trading out of the 1st?

For the second 7th round selection: I think we should replace the departed Woodhead with a Burkhead!

This is what will happen especially if we get Sanders:

Trade #29 for an early 2nd and a 4th.
Trade the latter 2nd rounder for a 3rd and a 5th(if someone is desperate 4th)

You get: a 2,3,4,5,7,7.

I predict that Belichick will trade out of the first round. I believe that there will be a team or teams that attempt to trade back into the first round for a player that they like who's still available at twenty-nine.

Either you try to acquire a high second round pick and a fourth round pick, or a first round pick in 2014 in exchange for your first round pick this year. Or you accept your own picks and draft accordingly. For example...

First round - (29) Johnathan Hankins or Johnthan Banks
Players such as Jesse Williams, John Jenkins, Jonathan Cooper, Matt Elam, Jonathan Cyprien and Desmond Trufant are unlikely to be available.

Second round - (59) Margus Hunt or Darius Slay
Third round - (91) Barrett Jones

Seventh round - Braden Brown and Joe Kruger

It only takes ONE team to fall in love with a player who falls. Look back as recently as the 2011 draft for this GEM of a BB trade:

The Mark Ingram trade is the perfect example. The Pats gave up pick #28 (Ingram) to the Saints, and got a 2nd in 2011 and a 1st in 2012. The 2nd rounder turned into Shane Vereen (56), and the 1st rounder turned into Chandler Jones (27). Now THAT is the type of trade I'd make again any day of the week and twice on Sundays!
