It's frustrating bc both have been good to good enough in the past. Henry would never be confused with Gronk but he's better than decent. Same with Smith. Both strived in different areas but this might be the worst stretch of blocking by both of them
I thought I read something this summer about Henry not liking to block. That's the most underrated aspect of Gronks game.

He's been awful this year for sure. In the past though he was a pretty good inline blocker that lost control and leverage the more he went in space but again this year has been a nightmare.

And Smith is kind of the opposite. Decent inline and better in space.

Super disappointing.

So what do you think is going on here? Poor coaching? Not grasping playbook? Lack of communication?

This always happens in free agency. All the best players are extended or franchised. So “the best of the worst” hit the market and get vastly overpaid in an auction between the most needy teams with the most money to burn. Player goes to new team with so much hype and expectations, is given a big role, and must play at about 150% of capability to justify the contract and fan expectations. Player presses harder and fails harder.

Yeah hard to think of an example where a team re-tooled predominantly via FA and became long time contenders. You have to overbid at the FA auction to get the player, and if you do a lot you're overpaying a ton to get several free agents. Not fantastic when the league by definition is a hard salary cap with limited economic resources.

This Pats OLine coach honestly sounds like a POS. How soon can we a new OLine coach ?

MassLive article:
Patriots OL Coach Carmen Bricillo when asked about the progress of injured tackle Trent Brown:
“There’d be a million other people that you need to ask that question to, but I appreciate you asking.”

Truthfully I haven't put HH under a microscope but Smith has been messy. Sloppy hand placement and footwork. He lost a few battles not having his legs underneath him.

Smith and Wynn might be the two most disappointing players on the team so far.

these guys have been miserable this year! Like Jets organization miserable.

Jones needs help with the intermediate passing game. Specifically receivers that can run the proper route and get separation.

that eliminates all our tight ends, bb needs to promote Wilkerson. That guy may drop a few balls, but he can get open on intermediate routes.

Team wants to run 3wr sets and has no idea how to use 2 TEs on the field

I guess not liking is better than Jonnu who needs at least a translation of the word as it appears totally foreign to him

Wynn is a .matter of concern to me. He was advertised as a super talent but now he is just a JAG.
OL issues have to be fixed immediately or else Mac will lose his confidence and health before his career in NFL barely starts.

Trent Brown may be back but he really should be at LT , not RT.

"let's pass 50 times against the Bucs!! Their CBs aren't great right now".

staff member: " but... Our OLine sucks and cannot pass protect more than 1.5 seconds. Mac is going to get killed by this Bucs Front7".

.... "let's pass 50 times against the Bucs!! Their CBs aren't great right now".

ok.

If Trent Brown is out and they play Herron/Durant again and leave Karras on the bench again, then FIRE the oline coach cirillo and fire the OC. This is beyond ridiculous.

.

First 4 snaps: 1 Mac sack 1 Mac pressure. Herron starting.

Fire the OLine coach and also the OC.

With this OL and a rookie QB they are looking at what, 5 wins? This offense can't produce anything
