The two-year extension didn’t give him a signing bonus. But Wendell is to receive a total of $300,000 worth of option bonuses (one per year) over the course of the deal, along with $50,000 workout bonuses each year. Not a bad deal for both sides… which explains why they did it.

I'd actually say "much better" at center. His size is tough at guard.

Cannon is an OG and an OT in a pinch. Wendell is an OC and an OG in a pinch. Don't see why extending Wendell precludes seeing Cannon this year. If Cannon is healthy and a better option that Donald Thomas, he should see the field.
