We have two 1st round pics next year. How's about we offer one of them to the JESTS for Revis? Wouldn't THAT be fun to sit back and watch the fall-out from?

Never happen, I know....... just idle speculation, playing around, during that long wait until the games begin. :rocker:

Re: OH! Now here's a thought.....

Not if we'd have to pay the guy $16 million+ to play for us. Don't forget we still have to find a way to pay Brady (absolutely) and Mankins (hopefully).

Re: OH! Now here's a thought.....

I wouldn't want to pony up the kind of money that it would take to get him. I doubt the Pats would either. This is a better idea than trading for Gholston though.

Agreed. If his salary demands were lower than maybe, but what the heck. As long as folks were tossing around ideas, I figured I'd throw this out as chum and see what it caught.

Respects,

Well, yes, but maybe we can throw Brady into the deal in exchange for our new Sanchise quarterback.

It would be funny to watch all the Jester fans turn on him on a dime.

"Yeah you stupid Patsies fans, Revis is going to kick your butt this year! He'll make you cry in your chowder! He... what? We traded him to New England? Revis is the most overrated crybaby in the league, and now the Patsie fans think he'll get them to the Super Bowl!"

It's big money but the thought of having the best CB in the game on the team is pretty enticing.

Still need a pass-rush though...

interesting idea, but no. I do want to get out of next year's draft (and have a feeling BB might want to as well) but not to acquire a player at a position in which we've already invested a lot of resources (via Darius, Devin, and Leigh)

The Pats can't sign both Revis and Brady. I don't know how you can have two players averaging over $16 million a year on their roster (Brady will be closer to $20 million a year) and still field a team with quality players.

That's about what I was thinking when this idea came up. watching a collective head explosion from Gang Green. :singing:

it;s NOT a serious idea, but I thought it might be a fun JESTS thread. We haven't had enough of those lately.....

Picks aside, he'd want more money than any CB should be getting. A CB is simply not worth 10-12 mill no matter how good he is.

This would be a better scenario.
Jets break the bank for Revis.
Jets go 12-4, as the Pats go 13-3.
Jets get to AFC Championship game and lose to Pats.
New CBA is signed. Jets realize they have 20 mill of a 100mill cap tied in Revis, and wil be stuck at thatcap number for 6 years, guaranteed.
After 7-7+gift caused half the team to ask to be paid as Hall of Famers with a handful of rings, they cannot afford to resign any of their players, the team implodes to the cap, and Revis spends 6 years watching Sanchez throw Ints, everyone around him suck and the team win 4-5 games a year.

Why yes.... and that's actually a lot more likely than what I was thinking.

The Patriots are built for the long haul, as opposed to teams like the Jets and Redskins who are on those stupid 1-year cycles.

it will never happen but a would take Nnamdi Asomugha, for a #1

I'd rather wait for them to mess up with Mangold or Harris and get one of them in free agency next year, neither are cry babies demanding money and would make the team even better (Mangold more so).

Too many Jet threads already so I will add this here.
The genius that is Rex Ryan just eliminated any urgency from Revis' side in the negotiations by saying the if Revis signs the day before the first game he starts.
Nice job. My boss is negotiating with this holdout, and the only card we hold is what he loses by not being here, so I will go and tell him he loses nothing. Darrelle, please use all of your leverage against us because we just admitted we have none against you. Genius.
How many more moronic gaffs before the Jets management starts scripting what Rex can say in front of a camera?
