This has to be a step-by-step process. I look at any acquisition by asking: “does this player improve the team (even marginally) over the 2023 Patriots at that position?” With Landry that’s an unqualified yes.

Oh Landry was a good pickup and this isn’t a good FA for skill players anyways I was just making an observation. I would sign Godwin though.

The team needs to beef up so that’s no problem. Hopefully Godwin is within reach.

I agree with your post. I was just using it as a vehicle to express a simple way to look at the FA process.

I Doubt it’s to the AFC but a third or fourth id do.

Great idea, they should bring back Antonio Brown while they are at it. See if they can put together a team with the biggest assholes in football.

From a pure football perspective, I would sign Pickens in a heartbeat. But he is such a head case and head ache that he is probably not worth it.

I recently read a report of a chicken that lived for years despite having his head cut off.

Really they're not in the same Universe Playing wise. Godwin is a possession WR.

DEFENSE
Vrabel will be able to get what he wants to get players to fit his system, including getting talented starters. We will hopefully have a top 10 Defense in 2025 and a top 5-10 thereafter.

SPECIAL TEAMS
We should always have top 10 special teams since our organization always seems to put a higher priority on this than most other teams. We have a top punter, punt returner and gunner. We do need a kicker, but that will happen.

OFFENSE
Maybe next year.

Seriously, our Offense will IMPROVE. That is a very low bar. Maye will have a full season and we have Josh.

Sure, we'll have improvements on the OL, another low bar. Just having health will bring an improvement.

I do think that we will also have the following improvements
1) another RB or more likely two to go with Stevenson and Gibson.
2) a backup TE (perhaps a re-signing of Hooper)
3) 2-3 free agent OL's, including at least a below average starter at one or two positions
4) 2-3 draftees in the top 4 rounds being used for OL's
5) yes, we will sign a couple of WR's
