Offseason player acquisition thread

Supposedly Godwin had an outside chance of coming back last year if Tampa made a longer playoff run, so I have to guess he will be pretty healthy by the time camp comes around. He suffered the injury last October, so it's already been about 5 months. I am sure he might have a little rust but he should round into form after a few games, and they'd be signing him to a multi-year deal anyway.
Thank you. I'm not safely at ground level yet, but you talked me off the bridge haha

The Pats shouldn't be spending as much for CB as other positions. The Pats need a #2 CB and depth, not a shut down #1. The need there is below LT, WR, and edge rusher at least.

That bwoyee can play love the Ints.

I hear ya. At minimum teams should get a good idea of where he is at during free agent visits. If he still seems a ways off then that probably raises a red flag.

Never hurts to have two lock down corners....we could just play man to man...and leave a high safety....then flood the mid-short areas with 8 defenders...

You can have an elite #2 CB, but you don't need a top #1 CB opposite an elite (or near elite) #1 CB.

Eh, I'd like to see them spend on the CB simply because I like the guys available there. It just feels like a good crop of FAs. Football is a team game so help at any position on a side of the ball addresses, to some degree, the others. We have dual lockdown outside CBs, now they cna blitz more and keep guys in the box more to help the front 7, for example.

I'd worry about how they're allocating their spending and talent level across positions once they good players across the roster. Our cap sheet is practically empty and we're devoid of talent everywhere. Right now it's all just a blank slate to me.

The legal tampering period is so stupid...we all know that agents & players are getting indirect calls from teams right now.

Bet yall there will be 3-4 deals announced within 5 minutes of Monday @ Noon EST.

Seems like a good offseason to have money with certain developments this week and guys becoming available. there are plenty opportunities to upgrade big needs at wr, dl, and cb2 via fa and the draft is supposedly loaded with DL too. Really no excuse to not get these spots upgraded nicely.

As usual the market is pretty light at OT but there seems a chance stanley will be available Monday to legally pursue. Robinson imo isnt a bad backup option. Edge rushers are slowly becoming available and im hearing the draft is pretty deep there too.

Front office needs to get aggressive right now

Music to my ears twin... BA with ACL is better than anything we have
Your statement about BA with ACL (and MCL as I understand it), being better than anything we have is quite true. That being said, is that not a horrible state of affairs in of itself?

Agreed. There’s plenty of decent #2 options on the market that could come relatively cheap. Don’t overspend on a guy like Murphy.

Bring back Shaq? I know he's primarily been a right guard, can he play on the left?
I read that he's given up more QB hits than both Robinson and Onwenu combined. Or something to that affect.

He's regressed for sure, but probably fairly cheap now.

It's very sad John.. the roster eroded to the point of where it is now due to the drafting. Vrabel I'm confident in will reset a culture and mentality that will resonate to the players.

I do love B.B. and what he did for this team. And in the fist 10 years he actually did make some decent personnel moves and decent drafting. But, the better part of his last 7 to 9 years is where the personnel decisions and drafts were outright horrible (except for a few hits). Just regarding the WR position, to draft N'Keal Harry in the 1st Round while passing on Metcalf, Brown (who wanted to play for us), and Samuel in the 2nd Round. Then, as if that wasn't bad enough, in the very next draft he passed on Higgins and Pittman Jr. in the 2nd Round.

In hindsight, imagine trading that 1st Round Pick used on Harry for a 2nd Round Pick in that draft and getting both Metcalf and Brown? Or Metcalf and Samuel. Or Brown and Samuel. Then you would've had enough ammo from the Harry 1st Round Pick trade to have gotten both Higgins and Pittman Jr. The possibilities are endless. And, with even two of those WR's, Brady might have stayed. So, there would have been a huge domino effect. Could of, would of, should of, didn't. Interesting mental gymnastics with all of that though!
