You’re delusional lmaoI really don't care what anyone says:
If Zappe was the QB today we would have won the game.

Good points but all those guys are way better than Mac. Including Mac with great quarterbacks that wouldn't get to the playoffs with this offense doesn't put him on their level. I'm not sure how the point you're trying to make excuses him.No you couldn't.
Last year Tom Brady was on a better offense and he had a losing season. Aaron Rodgers failed to make the playoffs last year with a better offense. We saw Peyton Manning unable to make the playoffs with a team that had Wayne, Addai, and a much better line. We saw Patrick Mahomes look like a high school kid in the Super Bowl when he had Hill and Kelce but his line was injured. We saw Brees look like trash in San Diego and miss the playoffs multiple times with better offenses. Allen couldn't make the playoffs without Diggs. Tua couldn't make the playoffs without Hill and Waddle and he's one of the best performing QB's on pace to be MVP.
You said you could name 15?
I'll make it easy for you.
Name 5. Name 5 current QB's who have proven they could make the playoffs with an offense as bad as this. Give me QB and the offense and explain why that was as bad as this one.
Let's have an intelligent conversation with facts. Then we can talk. Not you just saying nonsense. Actual reality. I'll wait. This should be good.
Shoot, just one good OT, a good QB and a number one WR could be enough to be in the mix.yes, that is a reasonable goal: real progress if we get a QB and hit on other key players (including 2 OT's).
You forgot about the 4th quarter play where he threw it right to the LB who could have ran it for a pick six.You could be right. The point is that Mac was OK, except for the horrible pick, but better. Next week he might be terrible again, and in that case maybe we go to Grier or Zappe. Cunningham did not look the part. Zappe was not good last week. We are back to Mac for one more week.
If Mac is utterly shattered that is OK. Need to know if he can recover and grow. I doubt it but he was better this week.
McDaniels was actually really good as well, and Breer mentioned recently that he spent time in Mac's ear down to the 15-second mark in the headset in 2021 just like he did with Brady. He doesn't have that now, and it's kind of an underrated thing.Thank you for your insight
Ive always seen Shanahan as QB whisperer, and to be honest I wasnt even considering this as an factor in this fake scenario... Because for sure, it changes things a bit. IF Mac could have a better continuity coming out of a good first season, yeah, this whole debate wouldn't happen for sure.
Keeping true to my thoughts, though, my point is that I just see Mac failing at the part that he was supposedly good: hist mental. He clearly has not grasped NFL speed, to me. So I was going to say that even at the 49ers, sure, I do think they would be good enough to get the post season, but I think Mac would still give games away, either by "trying to do too much" or not being methodical enough, quick enough to make good decisions. But with Shanahan working with him, this isnt as probable
I do agree with your later half tho: Mac is not the main problem and the whole offensive unit is a mess for many many reasons
The ekephant in the room- Did Matt Patricia shoulder too much of the blame last year?
Looks like the team was just bad

Yup, I have a feeling BB will run Mac back for the Bills next week. You could be right. The point is that Mac was OK, except for the horrible pick, but better. I want my qb to be at least better than average. Mac has not shown he can do that. I don’t think the guy I’m watching can win a playoff game. Right now he doesn’t see what’s in front of him and footwork and pocket awareness are not NFL level. Hard to see him developing those skills in year 3.I hear you, but he lasted less than 10 minutes last year in Green Bay. And if Garoppolo is out for any period of time, I'd be surprised if he wasn't sidelined at some point himself.
Thanks Rob, I can't tell you how long I've been hoping someone might make a comment like this.
They dumbed down the offense to 2021 levels for this one.The last two weeks Mac was awful. Today Mac was average. Who knows next week.
Agreed, I just spoke about this in @UGAPatsfan’s new thread about trading Mac to LV. I am sure Josh would think he could get Mac playing like his 2021 self again just by holding his hand like he used to. That might be enough to buoy the Raiders this year, and then who knows what Jimmy’s long term injury outlook looks like. At a minimum, Mac would be a cheap backup with upside for them in 2024 as well.McDaniels was actually really good as well, and Breer mentioned recently that he spent time in Mac's ear down to the 15-second mark in the headset in 2021 just like he did with Brady. He doesn't have that now, and it's kind of an underrated thing.
I could see McDaniels potentially making a move for Mac if Garoppolo is out for any period of time, so it's possible he could end up there if they're comfortable enough with Grier or ultimately Cunningham. I haven't written off the idea of them moving on from him midseason and I think @Ross12 made a great point in the game thread about that given how the other quarterbacks have been tracking.
Doubt it. The Zappe ship has sailed hit an iceberg and sank to the bottom.Yup, I have a feeling BB will run Mac back for the Bills next week.
I also noticed that he made Zappe and Grier inactive so that fans couldn't call for them to be brought in!
I wonder if he will use the same tactic versus the Bills?
Because if Mac starts stinking it up early, I could really see the fans at Gilette actively chanting for Zappe!

Mac was worth at most a 5th a couple of days ago. Now he is worth a 4th or a 3rd if he continues to improive. Yes, that might his value as a backup QB.It's crazy to me that there are people who defending Mac still.
You're not being honest with your self.
Belichick put the team together as if he still has prime Brady back there. Mac Jones will never be in that tier of QB's. But what would he look like with great receivers and an OL? It's tough to evaluate him.
