Surprised so much negativity after a win.

I loved watching our defense pin their ears back today and Judon pad his sack total.

Great special teams performance too.

Never gave the the Colts any semblance of momentum during the game.

I'll take it.

Offense did not make mistakes except for Myers and Bourne fumbles. Correctable.

We seemed to run block better earlier in the year and we need to get back to that.

We need to pass more efficiently to keep teams honest. Can the passing game keep getting better as the season progresses?

I’m not surprised at all. We have the most entitled fan base in sports. 20 years of excellence will do that. 9 sacks gets turned into a footnote if there’s anything to complain about.

I’d like to think that the second I find myself complaining about a three touchdown win, I’d quit being a fan and find a hobby that actually brought me enjoyment. The “Super Bowl or Bust” mentality is just not worth it. Life’s too short.

I think height is one of those things that'll help if you're plus in other areas but isn't a deal breaker either way (short or tall) I'm sure there's a cut off somewhere (again on the short and tall side) but I don't think an extra inch and half would suddenly make QB's see over a line.

I was just pointing out that the idea that 6'1 or shorter QBs that were "successful" were rare was a falsehood..

I think he must be thinking of ME when it comes to Thornton. Love his "potential", but he hasn't shown me **** so far, though I'll rewatch the game tomorrow. He had what some might considered TWO drops today. Now its true both were throws at his knees, but the good WR's in the league make those catches. STILL not seeing any evidence of his "explosive" speed, or any great evidence he's getting separation, at least not the kind you expect of a guy with 4.2 speed.

Now I don't believe in making blanket statements so soon, especially since Thornton missed 6 week with the broken collar bone. He's a rookie who seems to be smart AND hardworking. Very few WR's come into the league and immediately become impactful. There are a LOT of good prospects who became very good WR's AFTER a few years of development.
PFK - I didn't see most of today's game, but I'm gonna disagree with you about the separation in previous games. He's gotten it. Mac or Zappe haven't been able to get the ball there OR they over-threw him.. Mac did that once already. Thornton gave it his all to get there, but the ball was just over-thrown.

I didn't expect Thornton to immediately be Tyreek Hill. But I've seen the flashes. The issues are more to do with the O-line not getting the QBs time and with the timing with Mac being off.

Man it just irks me we are letting such a good defense go to waste with this putrid offensive performance

Lets revisit the “such a good defence“ statement after next game against at least functional NFL offence.
They are poison to rookie pocket QBs and offenses that cant pass like they always are.
They will get exposed again vs mobile QB/decent passing offense.
They could avoid it to certain extent w different personnel but so far they chose not to.

How did you feel about watching a third of the team fall flat on their face?

I'll hang up and listen.

How is the Meyers fumble correctable? He wrapped both arms around the ball and it was punched out anyway.

Why are we so sure that Zappe is not the answer ? We have seen him in 2 full games as a starter and a couple of games he came in when someone else started the game. I am not saying he will be great but we don't know one way or another. I also wish people would stop commenting on his size. Russell Wilson is shorter than him and he has had a lot of success, there are a lot of QB's that are between 5'11 and 6'0. Patrick Mahomes is the same height as Zappe., height is not an indication of how well a QB plays. just saying that one bad game does not define a QB.
If Mac does not improve as the year goes on, Bill has to give Zappe a fair shot to see what we have with him
Agreed. It's time to make it an active and fair QB competition.

Mac Jones enjoyed the higher draft position. But he has performed like dog crap in 2022.

Let's give Zappe another shot to impress.

Our offense has been Bantha Poodoo with Mac this year.

Less than 150 yards passing, zero pocket presence or awareness, ate 4 sacks, and converted only 35% of 3rd down attempts against the Colts. His only touchdown scoring drive was a 5 yard long drive thanks to a blocked kick by our special teams. That's a 20% TD scoring rate in the redzone as kicker Nick Folk scored FGs on our other 4 attempts in Colts territory.

Are you telling me that Joe Judge managed to ruin our QB in just a few months of joining the Patriots? Don't get me wrong that's a real possibility.

BUT if that's the case why hasn't Zappe suffered the same issues?

Lets revisit the “such a good defence“ statement
120 yards allowed is the least amount allowed by a defense this year by about 50 yards. Don't care if the colts offense sucks holding a team to 120 yards in today's nfl is a good defensive performance. Colts put up 320 yards on Washington last week. Ehlinger was 17/20 for 200 yards
against at least functional NFL offence.

Lions, Browns(Chubb was contained), Dolphins (Hill & Waddle were contained aside from 1 play) are functional offenses. I'd even say Jest have a functional offense (just beat the supposed best defense in the league). Dolphins they allowed 1 bad play in that game. Dolphins other points came on a fumble recovery TD and FGs

2 worst games this season Ravens & Bears. Yes both had good running QBs (did you see Dolphins trying to stop Fields yesterday? Probably not because they couldn't guy set a nfl record rushing against them) but the offense turned it over 4 times in both games, were a combined 7 of 20 on 3rd down, and had only 5 drives over 3 minutes (3 of those ended in turnovers) and not 1 single drive over 5 minutes. Offense has to do its part. When the offense has struggled the defense has for the most part has done their job. The 2 times it has had a struggle the offense just made it much worse for them.

I thought they won today?
So getting a win means we automatically turn off our brains about the running JOKE that is the Patriots offense this year?

I fully credited our defense and special teams units today as they performed outstanding.

I don't credit Matt Patricia, Joe Judge, Mac Jones, or our offensive unit today. They don't DESERVE it!!

He managed to ruin a QB in two years in New York. He's just more efficient this time.

Zappe didn't have McDaniels last year and then Judge/Patricia. He doesn't know any other way in the NFL. Mac, unfortunately, does.

Defensively we were great. Ehlinger will need to have a lot mental fortitude to leave this one behind fast... I am not gloating too much bc there aren't more softballs this season and last year, what we thought was a great defense, lost a lot of gas by the end.

Offensively... Yeah...

Next game is last gleam of hope that I have of us going back to a more... let's call it normal playcalling, with less forced downfield throws. If that doesn't happen, we are rolling with what we got, truly, for 2022

But just not to stay on the fence:

I think our woes are more on Mac Jones than anyone else, second place coming to Joe Judge. Patricia comes 3rd on my list. That's how interpret the things

Well, let's not get nuts. Bailey was mostly garbage in the game....and we're stuck with him for 5 more years since he had one good season two seasons ago.

After watching yesterday's game Daniel Bard came to mind, remember when he somehow lost his fastball ?? I know he has reemerged with the Rockies.. but Jones who showed much talent and promise last year, is playing like a deer in the headlights. Have always supported BB on every management decision, but not to have a specific QB coach is a serious faux pas on his part. Jones looks indecisive and beaten down.
What happened to Jake Bailey?? He used to be consistent, yesterday a 7 yard punt??
Our D looked good, but two weeks ago it pooped the bed against Chicago..

There is a lot of work to be done in the next two weeks..

Concerning to see what happened to Bourne too. Total 180 from last year.... trouble picking up the new system I guess? We are going to need someone other than Meyers , Rham, and Parker on offense.

It looked like Belichick was jawing at him when he came off the field after the fumble.
