Flank Godchaux and Barmore around a powerhouse middle guy, and everything changes. (Jordan Davis...Jordan Davis...Jordan Davis...)
I don't disagree at all, but understand you're going to give up in the passing game with such an alignment with Godchaux at DE for significant snaps (best run stuffers are usually not as talented in the pass rush) and it's likely going to take a very high pick to get a true NT that can stay on the field all downs.

That's the issue with the majority of NFL teams' offenses NOT looking like TN and IND (and even the Pats) - in building the Patriots defensively there's trade offs on the roster to construct a defense that is flexible, but not "over built" toward stopping a particular type of offense.

That's why the "big nickel" - otherwise these teams with 3 good WRs or multiple good TEs will feast in the passing attack conversely.

If there's a true 3 down NT available (i.e. free agent or draft) that's affordable (not taking significant assets to get whether $$$ or other picks) sure - go grab him as that's a need.

(as is a replacement MLB for High...a potential replacement for or big $ signing of JC Jackson...a potential replacement for McCourty...etc, etc - it's not like there's just no other decisions to consider)

Lose on Sunday and then playoffs are not a sure thing anymore. I'd hate to see the Miami game be a win or else game.

Fingers crossed that Harris is back and everyone else is healthy.

This team gave up 220 rushing yards so don't excuse it as only 2 big runs. Gave up 270 rushing yards two games ago and 100 yards the week after.

The reason I harp on run D is the Pats won't go far without an elite championship defense carrying the entire team and the sputtering offense.
The defense gave up 13 points, including 3 on a drive that started at their 20, and 7 on a sell-out at the LOS through which Taylor broke and scampered for 67, just like Harris against the Bills the week before.

Their special teams were atrocious and they came out flat while the Colts came out jacked and in a playoff mood.

You're rally complaining about giving up 100 rushing yards to the Bills in Buffalo when Josh Allen had 39 of them? Gave up 10 points.

And against the Titans, they played a light box after Tannehill was exploiting the short stuff. They gave up a lot of yards, and...13 points (in a game where they put up 36.

We agree, they could use a beast in the middle of that line. we disagree on Godchaux, and I doubt there's a player or coach on the team who'd agree with your assessment of him. He doesn't suck, and is well worth what they paid him given all they're asking him to do. it's funny how you see things like Smith being used wrong, but refuse to acknowledge anything of the sort with the players you hate.

Even Rham looked ineffective.
They returned to the slow developing run plays to start the game and the Colts were running penetration (similar to how the Bills adjusted).

When they switched to quick hitting and zone schemes, he had better success. No one can be effective shaking off a tackler in the backfield (or your own LT running into you for that matter).

I didn't like the KVN proclaiming he was one of the smartest players in the league.

Sometimes he is Kyle Van AnNoying.

STFU and play
That's Kyle being Kyle.

At least there are no stupid nicknames this year. They aren't good enough to have one and neither were the Boogeymen Patriots.

Yes was thinking about how 2019 played out

Until they prove it I'm not convinced this is the Patriots of old who figure it out and go on a streak from Dec onward. The hard recent evidence is this staff around BB fades over the season and gets exposed after Thanksgiving
Yeah. It has been 3 seasons now. Each game now is like a playoff game and requires a different type if intensity.

I’m still waiting for Bill and Josh to open up the offense, four or five receivers and hurry up offense, I thought we wouldve seen it last night in the second half.

I cannot stand self promotion.

Nicknames and accolades should come from admirers or enemies.
Do you think Bill is acquiescing more because of the cultural change with players now?

This Colts team is a serious contender in a wide open AFC. Pats had trouble against the MVP Jonathan Taylor. Glad we had a work Christmas party last night. The 1 seed is now not an option. Bills game at home for the division. Miami game will not be a picnic either.
If Wentz wasn’t their QB I would agree.

I didn't like the KVN proclaiming he was one of the smartest players in the league.
Reminds me of an old joke:

"A hiker, a priest, and three politicians are on a transatlantic flight when the pilot comes over the loudspeaker: "We have total catastrophic equipment failure. We are going down. The flight crew will stay with the plane, but the rest of you will have to bail out. Unfortunately we only have four parachutes so one of you will have to stay with the plane."

The first politician stands up, grabs one of the parachutes and says "I am the majority whip and critically important to the country. It's imperative I take one of the parachutes." He puts it on and jumps away.

The second politician stands up and says "I'm the governor of one of the largest most prosperous states in the country. It would be a tragedy for me to die. I need to take one of the parachutes." So he does and jumps away.

The third politician arises and declares "Of course you know me, I'm the (President, Speaker, whatever) and I'm the smartest person in the world. The country would never forgive you if I died." He grabs a parachute and off he goes.

The priest (rabbi, shaman, atheist, whatever your preference) takes the hiker's hand and says "I have lived a good life and want you to do the same. Take the last parachute."

The hiker smiles and says "No need dude. The smartest man in the world just jumped off the plane with my backpack. We're both good to go."

Do you think Bill is acquiescing more because of the cultural change with players now?
Absolutely but he'll still rip them a new one when it's called for.

I can totally see Bill lashing out at KVN in a film session after that misread on a Taylor sweep to his side asking if he was still one of the smartest players in the league.

BB is a master needler.

Lots of material Bill will have at his disposal this week.

listened to BB post game interview!.....at least he specifically mentioned giving up 225 yards of rushing was not acceptable , gives me some hope that they really need to work more on stopping that.

They'll fix it...in the draft next year. Not much you can do about it right now.

Bill has always loathed seeing his team getting run on.

I expect moves this offseason to help fix that.

Realistically, Mac Jones need a #1 WR going forward. Brady got Edelman as a blanket...

Jonnu Smith looks like a very bad signing. Even NKeal was better in yesterdays game (one play he was wide open...)...
