Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

There is not a facet of this game that is not worthy of blame.

It's easier to do it like this....I don't blame:
WR, TE, woodhead, jones, spikes

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

You know how many points the O left out there today? :bricks:

I doubt it was more than the secondary gave up. :bricks:

Lets see. Brady sucked. Offense sucked and the secondary for the third or fourth year in a row continues to be an epic joke. Once again I knew (which is no secret) that the second they punted they were screwed. This defense can play well 99% of the time but on game winning drives they cannot stop a pop Warner team from getting the score the need.

Here is how they lose 95% of the time:

Pats are either up by two points or six points with the ball.

There is around 3-4 minutes left in the game.

Pats can end the game with a first down or a couple of first down. They fail.

Ball is punted. It could land on the 1 yard line, it could land on the 50 yard line. It does not matter.

Secondary gives up a couple of huge passing plays.

(Insert opposing team name here) gets close enough to kick a game winning FG.

or

(Insert opposing team name here) gets in the end zone with a pass.
I write up a post like this after the Ravens game but was slammed for it. You are 100% right though. I listed about 10 examples of that exact script. It happens all the time

Re: you let tickle me pete and russel wilson out play the hof coach and qb just dese

this team is a 8-8 team... no way they should have lost that game but the great bb decides he can make pro bowlers out of ham and eggers and cut all our wr at training camp... this is the result.... no way this team loses to this team... poor coaching is to blame....

You didn't watch the game, did you?

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

#1 or not the Patriots SHOULD have scored over 30 but they left points on the field with dumb clock management, poor playcalling, intentional grounding and interceptions.

You nailed it better than the OP. There is still blame to go around on the D and giving up 20+ yds on the LAST PUNT of the Game. jeezus.

Spot on with your points about Off miscues. Although I cant actually blame TB so much for the ints, or at least the one that went off the hands in the EZ. But the rest of it - was horrible; and mostly TBs fault.

If they had just taken the 3pts at .06 in the first half -
or
If TB had called the TO that BB had to call; 15 sec sooner; maybe he would have had the chance to make it 7.
or
if TB had thrown the chuck away to the corner where Hern was and not where NOBODY was.

1st downs: NE 26, Sea 17
Tot Yards: NE 475, Sea 368
Tot Plays: NE 85, Sea 55
TOP: NE 34:00, Sea 26:00
Sacks: NE 2, Sea 1
QB Hits: NE 6, Sea 5
Turnovers: NE 2, Sea 2

All that dominance and the Pats lose. I said it during the game thread, but Seattle's offense consisted mainly of dropping back and throwing deep passes. More often than not, it led to either a long completion or a penalty against NE. With Wilson's scrambling ability allowing him to keep a play alive, this was obviously very good strategy.

An amazing loss, in so many ways. This game could/should have been a blowout by the Pats. Up 23-10 with 9:21 left in the game...should have been a LOT more than that too. And give up two late scoring drives.

Let's not forget, the D did get a HUGE stop with just over 3 minutes left in the game and that gave the ball back to the offense. But zippo.

Very frustrating loss, obviously.

Like i will reiterate time and time again the Patriots were excellent on defense because of scheming, i will be willing to wager that our DB's are far more talented than our old DB's of Earthwind and Troy back there. This team needs a competent well known defensive coach that can disguise our defense. Not to mention it will be an immediate fix.

I think you've hit the main point. The Pats play primarily a simple, straight up zone defensive scheme. No blitzea, stunts, disguises at all, just do your job and beat your man. The problem is they are playing against equally talented players and any intern offensive coach can scheme against this basic vanilla defense. Until they step up the definsive schemes to NFL levels, the results will continue to be the same, no matter who is on the field.

all on the O today...just look at the redzone numbers..grounding..TOs in RZ

Pats gave up 24...we should have scored MUCH more than 24.

You are correct. But, It's on the secondary EVERY DAY

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

so many excuses.. we let tickle me pete carroll who lost games like this and A BELOW AVG QB IN RUSSEL WILSON . beat us ... i say that is on bill belichcik... he needs to start being held accountable .. because brady cant win these games anymore

Does he still get to be held accountable for bringing them to the Super Bowl last year?

Re: Say all you want, AGAIN our offense was to blame

Plenty of blame to spread around. Obviously, the offense is not good enough to execute when it counts against pressure defenses.

And the secondary remains a bad joke.

Nevertheless, if this offense is completely healthy in the playoffs and the secondary play improves to "not terrrrible", they will be a very dangerous team.

These sorts of comments are what make Pats fans the laughing stock of the league. It goes to show how inept we are and how we couldn't judge talent if we had it laid out in front of us.

Both McCourty and Wilson and Gregory could start on other teams. Chung might even be able to start on another team as well. A team like the Redskins. The issue isn't that the secondary is crap. The issue is that the entire defense isn't working in sync yet. Players aren't doing their jobs. And we have guys new to the team who are learning what their job entails. Which also entails learning the jobs of the other players in the secondary. Something that way too many of you seem to have forgotten.

The trend so far says if they don't put up 31 or more points they will lose the game because the secondary cant stop anyone.....if you think that will change suddenly within the next few weeks then more power to you, hope is something we all need.

My personal opinion is that the only way the Pats will win games is by scoring more than 30......and that will likely be the way it will be because youth doesn't mature overnight, neither does raw talent.

If someone would've told me yesterday that the Pats would be up 23-10 with 8:00 minutes left, and accumulate 465 yards and 23 or 25 first downs against Russell Wilson, and asked me how much I would be willing to bet that the Seahawks win-- I might've bet the house.

This was a terrible loss, because we couldn't finish a lesser team. We lacked mental toughness in a hostile environment. The playcalling felt like we were pulling plays out of a bag; dysfunctional.

Yeah, it's early, but last week were running for 200 yards and the next week Brady is throwing the football 55 times only to lose the game.

Welker and Brady both look banged up, Bolden, Chung, and Lloyd are injured.

Coaching is inconsistent. The secondary should've all retired after four years of eligibility in the NCAA.

With the way were playing we'll be lucky to finish 9-7. Win a game or two, lose a game and on and on....

still trying to figure out how you let up a bomb like that up by 6 from a guy that couldn't probably move the ball down the field inn the time he had. Amazing how bad this secondary is.

And more than likely, they'll score 31+ points enough times to win the division and get a good playoff seed. But they'll have problems when they face a team that does enough to keep the Pats' offense down. Nobody ever actually shuts them down. Even in bad games they put up 300+ yards and 17+ points, but if you can limit the Pats to that, you're probably going to win the game.

The Zona loss is killing us. I had the ravens and this game as L's. Ugh(Made some good money on this game tho).

You people are missing the obvious FACT here: since Polian had the pass defense rules changed the Patriots have not been able to win close games with ANY consistency...look it up, since 05 their record in one possession games is sub .500, before Polian (01-04) it was ridiculous like 24-3 OR something...

oh yes i did.. and like the last 7 years... brady played pretty bad the second half and belichick sucked with his coaching decisons... and the avg secondary.. and the bad running game is a cause for concern...
