It’s early but based on camp & the first preseason game the pats may have drafted two NFL caliber CBs in the mid-rounds:
Marcus Jones - maybe the most impressive player I saw monday at camp. He was the only rookie to rest with the vets & is forcing Jonathan Jones outside in order to get him on the field.
Jack Jones - Played 63 snaps & gave up something like 9 yards on 4 targets (Wade was targeted double digits).
Jack Jones break on the ball is something. I think you are looking at your starting slot CB & CB4 from this class already.

The question this leaves me with is: what do we do with the veterans? Mitchell still sounds like the better choice for CB2, but Butler seems at least competent still. I can't imagine we would have the room to keep both if the Jones rookies each hold a spot in the rotation.

I haven’t achieved full tumescence about Jack and Marcus yet but my Spidey sense is tingling that both of them are going to end up being steals (or at a minimum draft hits). If both can provide starting caliber play as rookies, their CB room would suddenly become a definite strength, with those two added to JJ, Mills and either Mitchell or Butler.
It would also give them a huge boost in cap flexibility going forward, because they wouldn’t have to spend $$ at cornerback in the FA market. Mills is signed through 2024, with a cap hit in the 6.5m range.
