PATRIOTS NEWS OFFICIAL: Patriots Finally Acquire AJ Brown

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
Not elite to the Eagles, who have no passing game to utillize him.
Roseman is a top GM in the whole NFL. Maybe you are not aware of that. Roseman has all of the insider medical information. He is dumping Brown with a huge cap hit in '26 and '27 after paying a huge price to trade for Brown two years ago. Have you asked yourself why?

By comparison, Waddle’s will be 27M in 2027. I like Waddle a lot, but I am not sure why everyone is concerned about Brown’s recent lack of production when Waddle’s has been worse the last two years and only broken 1020 yards and 7 touchdowns once in his career.

Yeah, because the Pats got to the SB and now the team management has lost perspective. I like the 2026 draft, but this is a 3 or 4 year plan, and there is no reason to panic and start giving away 1st round draft picks for injured players on the decline.
In 4 years your MVP level QB is no longer cost controlled and the Patriots will have to back up the Brinks truck to keep him. That doesn't sound like an ideal plan.

This move opens the championship window now.

You can't simultaneously complain that we mortgaged our future with what we gave up for Brown but then also say it's proof he sucks because PHI "dumped" him on us. Those things don't jive.

I've been against an AJ Brown trade at this price point. I'm not going to switch up now and pretend I love it just because they did it. I feel how I feel. I'm also not going to be a sky is falling, over the top pessimist either about it.

Now that the trade is official let's consider some AJ Brown highlights.

I knew Brown was good but I didn't realize how big and strong the dude is until watching more of him. He is outmuscling DB's and gaining extra yards. He can make the tough plays as well as the big downfield target plays. He's got a big catch radius and he will be a dangerous weapon for Drake Maye.

Mike Vrabel coached Brown for years. He knows what kind of player he is getting and they have a strong relationship that will resume with the Patriots. Can't wait to see Maye-Brown connection this season!

In a way we have come full circle. We finally got AJ Brown on the Patriots instead of the numbskull N'Keal Harry pick.
Did you know that AJ Brown LOVED the Patriots coming out of college and his favorite jerseys were signed by Julian Edelman and Tom Brady?

It's such a shame Brown never got to play with his heroes. But he can create some new Patriots lore of his own playing with Drake Maye.

I know why. Brown doesn't want to play there, and they're unable to take advantage of him if he did due to their awful passing game. It's not rocket science, and Howie is not a rocket scientist.

Great trade, it was necessary, signing Doubs and trading for Brown are 2 solid moves to improve the WR core to a level we have rarely seen in NE. And the in house guys still have a chance to prove their value and we have some solid guys there from WR#3 and below.

He was an elite #1 wide receiver when the Eagles traded for him from the Titans. Two years later the Eagles want to dump him? Why? Because Brown is not elite anymore according to Roseman the GM of the Eagles (who is a better talent appraiser than you with a lot more insider information than you).

Brown has lost a step. The Eagles know that and are dumping him. We will see.

This is true, but if the Pats do not trust their draft management, they should change the management, not pick up WRs who have lost a step.
Your shtick is like a 13 year old Michael Felger.

They needed a number one receiver. You need your hopefully future QB to have more weapons to improve. If you think they could have found a better receiver for less I’d love to know the path they could have taken.

He doesn't want to play there anymore and is not on good terms with their QB.

Now that it's a done deal, i hope AJ balls out and is worth that 1st round pick. I do like the fact that the Eagles are absorbing most of the cap hit.

he missed two games. He was on pace for 1136 yds over 17 games and last year was considered a bad season.

It isn’t a panic move at all. It’s Vrabel bringing back a player he likes, trust and that can help Drake Maye not taking a step back.

They have a full offseason in 2027 and free agency in 2028 to build the team so that this 1st round pick in 2028 doesn’t matter.

If this pick end up mattering a lot then something has gone horribly wrong

My guess is because Brown didn’t want to play for a run first, second and third offense that wasn’t going to utilize him. Seems to make sense

Giving up #1s for old dudes is just not smart anyway you cut it.

The 5th rounder is irrelevant to me, pretty much a throw in for Howies ego.

It's hard to completely judge the trade right now but if the Patriots are a playoff team in the next 2 years this is a great trade, if the Patriots have a bad 2027 or Drake gets hurt and the Eagles are picking in the top 12 somehow in 2028 that would look like a brutal trade.

We have 2 x 5th rounders anyway one from Bradbury trade so we still have a 5th in next years draft.
We will probably get that 5 (maybe even a 4) for Boutte.
