not to mention its such a gut punch to the defense that they've had out there for like 40+ minutes of this game... they're at midfield, had managed to string together some completions and move the ball and they choose to put their defense back out on the field again

God love, ya, but you still have to find the guy. Like I said, if Mac stays the way he is and Zappe ends up being Taylor Heineke, we're basically right there with what the rest of the league is dealing with.

The playcalling/design is an issue. That overhead, which I'm surprised we were finally shown (terrible production) was a little damning given the situation.

Play calling and design isn't as bad as everyone thinks

I don't dismiss the possibility that, sans Matt, Mac might develop into something, but I don't see any EVIDENCE of this , at all, to date. I hear a lot of weepy commiseration with Mac's difficult circumstances. I'm looking for guy who can overcome circumstances. That's what a legit franchise qb can do.
