Imagine if Brady wanted 13.5 and Luck 12.5 and the Patriots were accused of deflating the opposing team's footballs.
It's hard to imagine there could be an even bigger distraction than what lead up to the Seahawks game (or the 2007 Giants game), but that would be it. Rumors that only the Colts footballs lost air pressure, by 2-3 PSI, and only Colts footballs were under the minimum. And the NFL would not explain that Patriots footballs also lost air pressure, by the same proportional amount, until four months later.
We should be really happy at this point:
1) We won the Super Bowl
2) The Patriots organization are suing the NFL in the off-season
3) Tom ****ing Brady is now suing the NFL in the off-season with the most experienced lawyer who exists
4) The Patriots finally get to clear their names up in SpyGate since it was referenced in the Wells report and Goodell's punishment
5) The report's research directly contradicted the media rumors. It turns out that both team footballs were found "deflated" and Tom Brady wanted footballs to be set at 13 psi, mentioning the rulebook, as he did against the Ravens.
6) Fans learn how involved Brady was in changing rules to benefit players, whether quarterbacks or all of the NFLPA.
This is about the best news that Patriots fans could have hoped for in the past decade.
P.S.: As a footnote, let's also be thankful that the Colts players we destroyed 42-20 and 45-7 graciously admitted they did not notice anything unusual in any of the footballs they intercepted from Tom Brady. They were the first ones to counter false media rumors and calm the storm a bit, while the NFL and the Colts sat by and enjoyed it.
