I feel really good about this franchise under Vrabel’s leadership. This has been a really smart approach to free agency. You can’t fix the offense so you go to the strength of the market and radically improve every area of your defense. Now all of the starters at those positions are your depth.

Objectively, team got a lot better already…it’s just that it’s on defense so far.

But…wait till FA and draft are over to really evaluate it.

Not a ton of defensive holes left so draft could lean heavy Offense.

If they have somehow got Godwin you could reasonably expect that they were actually pretty close to a playoff team based on what they did on defense so far.

I do wonder if this speaks volumes to Barmore’s health outlook. If dude has to medically retire, what happens re: the cap?
Technically the team can ask the player to pay back a prorated portion of his signing bonus. When it’s medically induced, it’s viewed as a bad move and usually some settlement is reached. Otherwise it’s business as usual - Pats would be on the hook for whatever portion of the final signing bonus that they haven’t yet accounted for through the cap.

His guarantees would no longer be applicable, and technically they could attempt to recoup the majority of his signing bonus too. Has the potential to get ugly, as it did with the Bills after Nyheim Hines’ Jet Ski accident knocked him out for the season.

Pats defense as of now:

EDGE: Harold Landry
DT: Milton Williams
DT: Christian Barmore (if healthy)
EDGE: Keion White
MLB: Ja'Whaun Bentley
WLB: Robert Spillane
CB1: Christian Gonzalez
CB2: Carlton Davis
FS:
SS: Kyle Dugger
Nickel: Marcus Jones

It makes no sense to me how top pass rushers are making so much more then Top LT’s. Great pass rushers are a lot more common then great LT’s. You can get by with middle of the pack pass rushers. You have a lot harder time winning with mediocre Tackles.
Simple, the casual NFL fan has zero idea of what good Oline play looks like. There is a very simple and obvious way to see if the pass rush did well. He hit the QB, thats good, pay him money. Gotta give the people what they want, which is pretty boy QBs getting smacked.

Reunite the Eagles
Yes.
