DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION OFFICIAL 2021 NFL Draft - Day 3 Discussion Thread

Just an FYI Tre Nixon was recruited to Ole Miss and was there a year before transfering to UCF, Ole Miss have a pretty solid track record with WR the last few years

Tre Nixon

Outside of Tay Gowan, who opted out, Tre Nixon had the least amount of playing time out of the group due to a broken collarbone he suffered in the season opener. While he missed half the season, Nixon fully healed and was able to prove it with an impressive 18 reps on the bench press. Nixon ran a 4.43 40 and a 6.81 3-cone, both are impressive numbers. These numbers coincide with the on-field play Nixon has demonstrated. He has sure hands and has been able to hit an extra gear to separate from coverage just enough to make a play. Nixon is a little lean at 6ft and 187lbs but could end up being a steal in the draft. His 8.89 composite score was second-best on the team.

Negatives:

Hands do not inspire confidence from quarterback.

We've had Bru, Mayo, Bentley and Roberts in the role.
Bruschi and Mayo were a different era before we became a nickel base team. Bentley and Roberts were part time guys, in the same role McMillan was brought in for.

Good speed and good hands. He was UCF’s deep threat.

For a 7th round pick, I like it. Take a chance on a guy who has speed. Hopefully they can get some other speed receivers in UDFA.

why?
We already have Zuber, Adeboyelo and Wilkerson to push Harry, Meyers and Gunner.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us sign a vet or two before camp.

We never brought Adeboyejo back after last season.

Solid year for Nixon in 2019 and on similar pace before getting hurt in 2020. Has speed and felt to have the potential to make an impact at any level of the field. Like the Robby Anderson comparison being made. Looks like someone who could sneak onto the roster with some upside, and that’s all you can really ask for in the 7th. Like the pick.

It also marks the sixth time Bill Belichick has drafted a receiver in the seventh round for the Patriots, with David Givens (2002) and of course Julian Edelman (2009) the most notable among them.

Time for the fun.... UDFA time!

Mike Mayock interview on NFLN. Looks like he’s aged 10 years since he’s been on the job. With, given how Gruden is running things, isn’t surprising.....

Looks good to me for a 7th round flyer. Great draft all around, nice value, addressed needs and depth at key spots. Definitely some interesting camp competition coming up.

100x production from players drafted in the 7th than in the first 6 rounds lol
