Not to be sexist but, is Sherman's wife being pregnant really an issue?

It will be quite a problem if his wife gives birth. I think we should use this thread as evidence that he has both a wife and a girlfriend, who are both pregnant and due in the coming couple of weeks, and get the media on it.

There's no doubt he'll play but it may be somewhat a distraction. I know I was a nervous wreck the week before I was about to become a father, not saying it will definitely affect him but it may.

Is there really a possibility that Sherman will skip the Super Bowl if his wife delivers? I mean, its not like he's pregnant. Carroll played it off well, saying family decision and he's looking forward to meeting "little Petey" (big laughs).

If I'm wrong, just pile on old insensitive me. I work in a small office with all women, so I'm used to it.

One word-"Divorce". If she gives birth during the SB and he's not there? The kid will forgive you and think it's cool and you're awesome and love you unconditionally because they already know you're voice and gauge your heart when you touch the belly.

The mother will never forgive you and you will be condemded until eternal damnation no matter what you do anyway so you might as well play knowing the kid is gonna love you no matter what.

I remember when I was born......Really? Many here will dispute that. Which is insane. There are gray areas around 4ish, and many will dispute that. They'll tell you they remember every second from the time they were 3.

For you guys, if any girl throws out she remembers every second of her chilhood from age 4....RUN!!!

Twenty something years ago this issue came up when some NFL player was going to be fined for missing a regular season game to attend the birth of his child. I used to call into sports radio shows a lot then and I got COMPLETELY HAMMERED by basically everyone for saying he shouldn't have missed the game. I mean, HAMMERED. Men, women, dogs, cats, it was dump all over me night on whatever radio station it was that night. Now, I was a college-aged kid then and hadn't had children of my own so I couldn't bring that perspective to it. And now that I've had two children, I can look back and say that while I am glad my husband was there every step of the way, what I truly needed was my doula who knew what to do for me other than look completely helpless. I would be all, Go play in the Superbowl! But that is the opinion of me and me only. And I obviously feel differently about a regular season game now as well (except maybe a division game? lol).

You're first little boy (which he knows it is) is coming into this world. Do you know how scary it is for a father?

It's the most terrifying experience I've ever been through as a man. You can't protect her, you can't protect the baby and you're just there. That's the feeling I remember. I'm a man and I'm helpless to protect them. If something went wrong and I wasn't there.....hell with my family or hers....I'd never forgive myself.

You're job as a man is to make sure everyone else does their job so your defensless child comes into this world with a protector looming at every turn. You'll say stupid **** and feel mocked and ridiculed. That's what happens nowadays. They love to crush and dispirit fathers.

That kid knows nothing of this, but he/she will know you were there to protect them.

If it came down to a game or being there, the kid will say he didn't care. It doesn't matter.
