Norv turner disappointed with Igor's comments

These ****y punks are just what the doctor ordered up for the Pats. The Pats always play their best when they have a healthy dislike for their opponent. I look for another game like the Pitstburgh game, where there will be a lot of trash talking and hitting after the whistle. The boys will be ready and I see us winning this game by 2 TD's at least.:D

What puzzles me is Norv giving them two days off. Don't they have to "get ready" themselves?
Staff needs two days to prepare a same plan. Players are "off" but will still look at tape, work out, etc. They just won't be practicing or have team meetings.

That's a normal Sunday-to-Sunday routine for just about every team. Norv is smart, keeping it the same as regular season, just another away game. Staff spends Monday and Tuesday preparing a game plan, players practice Wed-Fri, walk through Sat and fly to Boston (though they may fly Friday if they want to acclimate to weather).

Why are patriots fans so worked up over the few comments Igor made. .. There was nothing serious about his comments, he was more or less saying, " the patriots need to take us seriously ", that's all.
Then why was Norv angry and say it's been addressed?

“Who? New England?” Olshansky said. “Seriously, they're more worried than we are, I promise you."

That's just a stupid thing to say.

We fans are not "worked up" over it. We are gleeful, though amazed at the stupidity of players who cannot keep their mouths shut, and insist on giving the other team reasons to make it personal.

Why do you think every Patriot player says only good things in public about the other team? Because they know that when the body is tired and physically spent, and everyone is playing on mental toughness, you don't want to make it personal to give the other guy another reason to dig deep.

Will it guarantee a victory? Of course not. Will it give exhausted players in a long drive or in the fourth quarter a focus point when they need to marshall their strength for one more play. Then one more. Then another. Sure.

The point is, unless you are so much better than your opponent that he has no chance, why are you giving him motivation that can only hurt you and help them?

Ask Rodney about Olshansky and you will get this reply:

Who? Never heard of 'em.

Did you watch the youtube link?

What puzzles me is Norv giving them two days off. Don't they have to "get ready" themselves? So they've got three days to prepare, one day of travel. This is clearly an advantage for the Pats. If BB gave players Sunday and Monday off, they still get in five days of prep for the Chargers.

They are gassed, makes more sense to let them rest IMHO Indy took a lot out of them

There was nothing serious about his comments, he was more or less saying, " the patriots need to take us seriously ", that's all. It was his way of saying the patriots should not look at the Chargers as the same team they played in week 2. As for all of the other hoopla about the playoff game, that is water under the bridge. The patriots players over celebrated a little due to Merriman's comments, and in turn L.T and the Chargers players overreacted about it. They let their emotions get the best of them. And I for one can see why, the patriots came back late in the game to take the win away from San Diego. It was a heartbreaker, for fans and players alike.

1) No one is "getting worked up". Why is it that Charger fans think that discussions = fans getting worked up?

2) You need to work on your reading comprehension because Igor did NOT say that the Pats needed to take the Chargers seriously. He said that the Pats would basically not know how to handle the Chargers and that the game was basically in the bag.

3) Even if he meant that the Pats needed to take the Chargers seriously, its a pretty STUPID statement on his part. The Pats aren't the Chargers. The Pats take EVERY OPPONENT they face seriously. EVERYONE of them. And the Patriots KNOW that the Chargers are a different team. Brady will have looked through every game tape of the Chargers defense this year already. He and the OC will have sat down and they will have the game plan basics outlined already. That's how the Pats have won week in and week out.

4) The Patriots didn't over-celebrate and its laughable to imply otherwise. The game ended at mid-field. Sorry that the Pats players celebrated there. What were they supposed to do? Run down to the 20 yard line to celebrate?

Its a big deal because, if you saw it, he acts like he doesn't know who the NE Patriots are, that Rivers/Gates/LdT were hurt and Patriots have had a pretty good season.

"Who?" Yeah, the team beat you at home last year.

"Who?" The team that is undefeated.

"Who?" The team that has homefield advantage and just defeated the Jags.

Worried about the Chargers?

I don't think the Patriots are worried that the Chargers will be healthy enough to compete.... that is the Chargers' job and the job of Charger fans. They should worry about getting a window seat for the flight. They should worry about not losing their luggage. If they don't want to worry about the Pats, than don't. Whether they worried about them during the week means nothing on Sunday.

Patriots should be worried about nothing but being prepared for the next game and staying healthy.

dont forget about the norv turner fiasco at the beginning of the year either...

where he wrote down the plays, and not even told the players until that morning, b/c the locker room may have been bugged, or b/c the Pats may have gotten a hold of them somehow....

I saw the clip. He was obviously just kidding around. This won't be treated as such, though.

Your crazy if you think the Chargers arent looking at film of the pats on these "days off". There really is no such thing especially during the playoffs. LT Rivers and Gates get rested players STILL come in and workout go over schemes and gameplans. Then 3 days of practice and implementing the game plan is MORE than enough time to get up for a championship game especaially after 2 playoff games. The Chargers WILL be ready.

That's "Haht-breakah" here in boston bud!;)

If you dont know it by now, the Patriots are masters at taking comments with just a hint of disrespect and turning them into a war cry. They love that stuff.

Another MAJOR motivator for the Patriots players making sure they win is that they know there would be some Charger players dancing on our logo if we lost.

Don't think for a minute they are not well aware of this and are using it as a major way to motivate them. So here you have an instance of an act by Patriots players that was seen as disrespectful to the Chargers being used to motivate the PATRIOTS! Pretty cool, huh?
