No Peppers is a good thing

It always amazes me how supposed fans of this team moan and groan and declare that this team is toast because the Pats don't immediately spend all their budget by 15 minutes into Free Agency.

Many of you are the same ones who demanded the Pats sign Adalius Thomas and then *****ed and moamed about the lack of production from him. I swear, half of you forget how things on this defense interact. The Pats need a DE to solidify the line. Then they need the olbs and ilb to flesh it out.

Getting TBC back into fold helps. Getting Wilfork one will help. Adding another olb would be the next step. Things just don't happen overnight and those of you who think it does are either ignorant or dumb.

no moan and groan here.......I just see a roster full of holes and then laugh at the homers who say the pats are currently better off than the jets

X

and what do u base that on jack? We have a better QB that's about ot
..at this juncture jests team to beat in afc east

Before Welker's injury we were 10-5
Meanwhile a week earlier the Jets were 7-7 and were handed 2 wins
We were 1-1 head to head, their win came against a rusty Brady and no Welker. Our win came when both teams were (to my knowledge) full strength and was rather convincing.
With a healthy Welker we were the better team.
Unless the Jets have a clear cut better overall offseason I think we'll be better too in 2010

I can read fine........you just give yourself way too much credit......a symptom of being a homer

The next time you make an actual contribution to this forum, do let me know. Otherwise, zip it. That'll be my last interaction with you, so don't bother to respond.

right now, the jets are adding players while the pats are losing them....even though the jets were a better team at the end of the season, they have added a solid #2 CB...the pats stand to lose their 'best' CB....the pats don't are missing a starting DE and OLB....the pats are currently without a starting ROG....the pats currently can not field a decent TE...I can go ono and on

and you mean with welker while the jets were without washington and jenkins, the pats were a better team or does that only work when in favor of the pats?

you're a homer

there's a factual contribution

He just can't help himself. I guess that's what your stuck with having emerged from the bottom of the gene pool.

You are the most annoying poster on this forum for a week straight. Please take a break!

no....you take a break....

why didn't you make good on your threat to ignore me? that makes 2 of you.....I produce valid points, but you homers just go on LALALALALALA in true homer fashion.

just ignore me

It's been 16 hours, 16 HOURS.... if you want to complain about not making any moves at least wait till the draft. I have full faith the needs will be addressed. As far as no Washington/Jenkins, the Jets were clearly able to perform without those 2 later in the season. We had already questionable WR depth and then Welker goes down and that crippled us because it happened at a thin area. It's hard to adapt to a loss like that in one week.

its not about what's happening now.....I fully understand the reason for not signing peppers and don't blame the pats....

but the jets are a better team right now.....case closed

not really.......not spending that kind of money is understandable......the problem most people have is there are so few apparent alternatives that stand to correct the biggest weakness on the team (OLB)

I can see not spending the money regardless of how good the player is....I could even see not giving 15M per to brady

with that in mind though, as the options to improve diminish, it begins to look more like a developmental year........4 day 1 picks and some cheap FA's, and spend the year seeing what you have while the CBA shakes itself out.

this way the team does not give away a bunch of guaranteed money for a year that will potentially not be played (2011).....it is, after all, a business

Then 2010 will be a long year, worse then 09 imo.

So the logic is

Not signing Peppers is good because it gives us the option to sign several good players rather than one great player.

Ok makes sense

Just let me know when the Pats decide they're ready to join the rest of the NFL in the FA signings and I'll hop on board with that plan

well.....it won't take much for the pats to have an offense that puts up 30-35 per game (even on the jets).....you'll have a bunch of rookies and low priced vets added to the defense that may not be that good, but I will predict will be pretty aggressive and entertaining. it doesn't bother me if they're not that good as long as they are physical

it makes sense this year and the unknowns that arise with an impending lockout.....if you give peppers 40M in guaranteed, 8-10 of that will be wasted on the lockout year.....which will make it an effectively much more expensive contract.....I have no problem with this end of it

face it......gillette is sold out regardless of what happens in 2010.....why waste the money now?

Isn't that how the Patriots won 3 super bowls earlier this decade, by keeping a small 'higher class' and a bigger 'medium class'? What were the big money signings during the glory years? Not just by us, but what about the Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, the two other most successful teams in the decade. I can think of Rosey Colvin who wasn't on the active roster for 2 of our titles and that's it. Adalius was a failure, and brought us no titles.
