I'm surprised in the relative lack of talk about Kerrigan. He's got the size and quickness (I said quickness, not speed), motor and intangibles to fit with this defense. Plus, he's a monster on tape. The guy just creates sacks and forces fumbles.
Heyward or Ellis can be had in round 2 and, IMO, are not much of a dropoff from Watt or Wilkerson. I say move up for Kerrigan, trade down from 28, and get one of those DEs.
The thing that I dont get about Kerrigan are the complaints about his pass coverage abilities or whether he can play in space. Other then Von Miller, who is all but out of reach, is there any other 3-4 OLB who has that ability coming out of college? And the knock on Miller is that maybe he isnt strong enough to set the edge. My point is that it seems there will always be an issue with anyone us Pats fans may want at OLB in the 3-4. Quinn, A. Smith, B. Reed, Sheard and Houston are all names I have heard put forth as possible Pats pciks for the OLB position. I cant see any of them who may be better of then Kerrigan in coverage. Kerrigan proved in the combine that he is quick and that he is faster then previously thought. And with his football IQ, intangibles and work ethic, I think he will be ok if asked to cover somebody.
I would like the Pats to trade up to get Watt and Kerrigan. They could make a couple of trades and still probably have 3 or 4 picks somwhere between rounds 2-3. Maybe a mid 2nd, 2 early 3rds and a late 3rd. Then pick up a couple o-lineman, a wr and a rb.
