i dont think its that much of a stretch saying our Drafting over the past few years hasnt been great
Well, it also hasn't been nearly as bad as people say it is.
The 2007 draft is not nearly as bad as people make it since the Pats obviously hated that draft and traded away most of their higher picks. Yes, there were a lot of players selected that didn't make the team, but most were sixth and seventh round picks who had little shot of making the team in the first place.
Five of the seven selections from the 2005 draft are starting for this team right now (Mankins, Hobbs, Kazcur, Sanders, and Cassel). So that has to be considered a good draft.
The 2008 draft is shaping up to be a pretty good draft. Mayo is still the front runner for DPOY. Wheatley looks like he may be a player when healthy. Whilhite is contributing.
You can make an argument for the 2006 draft and the 2004 draft past the first round, but you can look at every team and they have had some bad drafts.
