Apparently not...It's of course true that Every RB will benefit from a better OL & excellent blocking FBs & TEs...What's also true is that Soreknee cannot generate yards after contact: the first defender to touch him also tackles him...Michelle is therefore also part of the Problem.
Given Bill's history with having Power Backs as well as 3rd-Down Backs in the building, I was a little surprised (and obviously very VERY disappointed) that he decided to draft this JAG instead of the far studlier Nick Chubb.
Michel missed time with knee problems. He doesn't seem to cut as well as he did in college, taking little stutter steps to turn in the NFL, whereas in college he just seemed to do immediate, explosive cuts. Chubb was the one who seemed to be the injury risk, and Michel at least in college seemed to be more versatile in catching and blocking (which apparently has not translated well to the NFL). So while it may not have worked out due to injury, I can sort of see why Michel was rated higher than Chubb.
So maybe
Also, there might have been a higher grade from Belichick for those intangibles he prizes, like character, leadership. I can't make a comment either way since I don't follow college football that closely, but that might also have factored into the decision to draft Michel. Michel does seem like a good teammate.
